Financial Collapse Inevitable -- when is sooner or later?
Dr. Paul Craig Roberts via judd, Wednesday, Jun 6 2012, 1:32am
Ever since the beginning of the financial crisis and Quantitative Easing, the question has been before us: How can the Federal Reserve maintain zero interest rates for banks and negative real interest rates for savers and bond holders when the US government is adding $1.5 trillion to the national debt every year via its budget deficits? Not long ago the Fed announced that it was going to continue this policy for another 2 or 3 years. Indeed, the Fed is locked into the policy. Without the artificially low interest rates, the debt service on the national debt would be so large that it would raise questions about the US Treasury’s credit rating and the viability of the dollar, and the trillions of dollars in Interest Rate Swaps and other derivatives would come unglued.

Western Banks 'Reaping Billions from Colombian Cocaine Trade'
Ed Vulliamy via reed, Wednesday, Jun 6 2012, 1:02am
The vast profits made from drug production and trafficking are overwhelmingly reaped in rich "consuming" countries – principally across Europe and in the US – rather than war-torn "producing" nations such as Colombia and Mexico, new research has revealed. And its authors claim that financial regulators in the west are reluctant to go after western banks in pursuit of the massive amount of drug money being laundered through their systems. Frustrated Failed Revolutionaries: The Assange Cypherpunks
finn, Tuesday, Jun 5 2012, 1:21pm
Sometimes the secondary unstated discourse offers more detailed and revealing information than the articulated or overt primary discourse – this was certainly the case in Assange’s latest RT interviews with ‘Cypherpunk’ geeks and friends; but prior to deconstructing that gem of a semiotic treat, allow me to clarify a few points about TODAY’S digital underground. Diminutive Poof, Bradley Manning, teaches American 'he-men' Honour and Character
Ed Pilkington via dorothy, Monday, Jun 4 2012, 2:02pm
Homosexual soldier, prisoner of conscience and social hero, Bradley Manning, continues to compromise the US military as each day passes. The depths to which the Pentagon has sunk in order to railroad Manning promises to leave an indelible stain on the US military forever; the criminal Pentagon simply CANNOT survive this case in any moral, legal or civilised context. The New Kamikaze Politics of Today
quill, Monday, Jun 4 2012, 1:01am
For those not familiar, the term “Kamikaze” is originally Japanese and loosely renders into English as ‘the divine wind.’ It referred originally to Japanese suicide pilots of WWII. These very young pilots willingly died for their ‘Emperor;’ their training hours in the air were minimal, time mostly spent perfecting targeted dives. Their planes were flying bombs packed to the hilt with explosives, in effect they were the first human guided missiles sent to devastate the enemy; very few Kamikaze pilots survived their attacks. Traditional Enmity Delivers Strategic Gift to US
quin, Sunday, Jun 3 2012, 9:19am
Vietnam and China share a border and an Ocean, over which conflict has erupted over the centuries. The last overt war the two nations fought was in the 70's; China called it, 'teaching Vietnam a lesson.' The conflict raged for a few weeks before China was satisfied that Vietnam had learned its lesson (and place). (story and 1 comment and 2 images)

Great Barrier Reef at Risk
staff report via baz, Saturday, Jun 2 2012, 2:03am
Have no doubts regarding which interests Oz governments serve today. Everyone seems to be benefiting from the Oz mining boom except the Australian people! Billions in profits are siphoned off for corporate elites, Transnationals and Banks but precious little goes into necessary services and infrastructure. Substandard Oz health and dental services continue to suffer due to lack of 'available' funds -- a very odd scenario despite the FACT that it is the PEOPLE that legally OWN the nation's natural wealth. Fukushima: Thousands of Tonnes of Radioactive water pour into the Pacific Daily
blogger via radium, Friday, Jun 1 2012, 11:48pm
Japan has given up attempting to contain the billions of litres of radioactive water used to cool stricken Daiichi reactors at Fukushima; with international approval the highly polluted water has been allowed to flow directly into the Pacific Ocean since the time the initial disaster struck. Consider the amount already leaked, then consider the amount yet to be dumped into the Pacific, as there is no easy method available to stabilise these stricken reactors. Fukushima is an international disaster in progress. (story and 1 comment and 1 image)

Google warned or face court over antitrust issues
Charles Arthur via lynx, Friday, Jun 1 2012, 11:20am
CIA partner and international Wi-Fi HACKING company extraordinaire, Google, faces extreme measures if it doesn't alter its data management/search policies, the Guardian reports. However, with chairman, Eric 'sweetie' Schmidt, scheduled to attend the Bilderberg gathering again this year whatever measures are taken be sure they will not inhibit information juggernaut Google from illegally hacking, manipulating searches and continuing to suppress/censor data in the future. No Doubts regarding Orchestrated conflict in Syria?
ben, Friday, Jun 1 2012, 12:21am
I think it was 'dubya' Bush who once said 'fool me once, I'm an idiot, fool me twice, I'm a moron but fool all the time and I'm an American!
Surely, after gross NATO war crimes in Libya and the obvious proxy assassination of Gaddafi, "we came, we saw, he died," the USA and NATO have no credibility whatsoever regarding 'humanitarian interventions" or as peacemakers. Quite the contrary, the US/NATO create/make WARS for the benefit of their Corporations and Reserve Banking System, which is currently tightening its grip on the global economy and political situation. 'Back Door' Discovered in Chip Used in Boeing 787 and Military Systems

FLORENCE, May 28, 2012 (IPS) - Though the current global economic and financial crises are undoubtedly devastating much of the world, they present the perfect opportunity for remodeling our economic system, according to participants at the ninth annual Terra Futura (Future Earth) exhibition of ‘good practices’ in social, economic and environmental sustainability held here from May 25-27. Hollywood takes Golden Shower - Kidman pisses in face of co-star
goldie, Tuesday, May 29 2012, 9:32pm
In its desperate search for new sensationlist gimmicks, the US film industry has resorted to the 'golden shower;' a topic usually reserved for lockerroom jokes. Aging actress, Nicole 'no appeal' Kidman, gratuitously pisses in the face of co-star, Zac Efron. No doubt some desperate director will trump that scene with a 'steamer' in someone's mouth. Goodbye America -- in every way, you stink! (story and 2 comments and 2 images)
