Compromised US Military Considers Nuclear Option
peptide, Tuesday, Feb 21 2006, 4:21pm
Arab fighters and insurgents have demonstrated to the world that the US is a ‘superpower’ in name only. A poorly armed and trained but highly motivated and dedicated band of fighters has exposed the US military as weak, inept, unskilled, brutal and bereft. From South America to the Himalayas, resistance against capitalist plunder and exploitation signals the inevitable failure of militaristic capitalism. Regardless of all other considerations people today have confirmed that they will fight any aggressor who threatens their homes, families and way of life.

Fields of Battle
furlong, Thursday, Feb 9 2006, 1:41pm
Faced with the undeniable and now unavoidable truth of the criminality of the Bush, Blair and Howard governments, what do you suppose are the consequences for these men? People are fined for parking and littering offences but murder and plunder on an international level incurs no penalty it would seem. [The ICC is a puppet court, an institution with zero credibility.] Is the lack of legal and public response surprising? Advice from leading consultants and ‘people managers’ was/is unanimous; once a decision is acted upon by a government and a nation is committed to a particular course, the people are swept along regardless of compromising evidence released during or after the event. Religion as Social Liability
finch, Thursday, Feb 2 2006, 1:48pm
The recent religious furore over certain (cartoon) publications in the secular press unambiguously identifies ‘religion’ as little more than cheap politics; or put in simpler more accurate terms; religion is the politics of the mentally deficient. Consider the possibility of an infinite creator/God and the arrogance of those who actually think or imagine they or any other finite being could possibly pollute, insult or deface that God. A characteristic of Godhead is IMMUTABILITY! Rationalists would refer to the basic logic of the inability of the finite to apprehend the infinite (God); the two states are mutually exclusive. But it is obvious that ‘God’ is as far removed from the present issue as day is from night. (story and 1 comment and 2 images)

Issue or Distraction

Today’s right-wing political strategists have developed an effective technique to manage or direct the public’s attention. They have adopted Straussian methods of political deception. (story and 2 comments)

Bin Laden Backfire
nano, Sunday, Jan 22 2006, 4:06am
US ‘intelligence’ agencies now realise the ‘Bin Laden’ tape has been a huge flop and the effect has been the reverse of that anticipated. It has also proven to be a monumental liability as people around the globe are now questioning the veracity of all allegations relating to Bin Laden and Al Qaeda; Howard and Blair beware, even the Arabs are questioning their ideological base. Well done Semitic ideologues, neo-cons and Straussians. External attacks are unnecessary, you are doing an excellent job on yourselves – no help needed or wanted!

Bin Laden to the Rescue
finch, Thursday, Jan 19 2006, 3:34am
In a desperate attempt to retrieve the tatters that is the Bush government, Bin Laden has again come to the rescue – perfect timing! Who remembers the last major announcement from the person who has done more to assist Bush than any other man on the planet? It was during the last presidential election when Bush was in desperate need of an alarmist boost. (story and 4 comments)

Social Disorder
peptide, Thursday, Jan 12 2006, 5:39am
The subversion of law and ‘order’ has been effectively and completely realised, not by revolutionary, rebel, insurgent groups and associated ideologies, but by the custodians of social order themselves. The process was essentially (d)evolutionary not revolutionary. An elementary student would have little difficulty understanding the character of the ‘New World Disorder’ and the forces that created this new social nightmare. The USA stands in plain sight as the most criminal, murderous, terrorist state in the world today. (story and 2 comments and 1 image)

Response: Derrida’s Deconstruction of Authority
budgie, Friday, Dec 16 2005, 1:35pm
The inherent qualities of anarchism are egalitarian, democratic and cooperative relations. These qualities enable it to ‘roam’ at will within any cultural dynamic and to be seen or appreciated as compatible with whatever it encounters. However, its inherent qualities are not realised until after the host has been affected/‘equalised’ by constant dilution/dispersal of ‘congested’ power. The cuckoo’s egg becomes the fully developed bird of a completely different genus to that which nurtured it. (story and 2 images)

The Politics of Inversion
Kingfisher, Friday, Dec 9 2005, 1:45pm
A fundamental feature of extremist regimes is the absolute requirement for an adversary. If a real or perceived enemy loses its opponent status then a bogeyman (under the bed) mentality is cultivated until the negative effects of that strategy (fear, loathing etc.) can be successfully superimposed onto a suitable ‘candidate’. The ‘successful’ candidate would then immediately attract the fear, loathing and violence of the extremist society (or group) in question. (story and 2 images)

Terrorism Communism – McCarthyism or Reality
kwang zi, Wednesday, Oct 19 2005, 9:31am
Analysts and historians would recall the last time ’bogeyman’ hysteria gripped an unwary public; USA of the nineteen fifties and McCarthyism with the ‘red under the bed threat’ is now one of history's embarrassing moments. Joe McCarthy, puppet of ultra-right forces in the US, ruined numerous careers and lives – for nothing! The degree of 'threat’ attributed to the 'reds' proved to be wildly exaggerated, more a product of excited 'judgement' or shared delusion than accurate assessment. US intelligence agencies and ultra-right militarists fell victim to their own propaganda and the (dis)information warfare waged at the time.

Bush, God and Transnationals
peptide, Friday, Oct 7 2005, 12:12pm
The tragedy (for the entire world) is not that Bush is delusional, mentally unstable and intellectually challenged – that is well known. Rather, it is that he remains as commander in chief of the USA – placed in that position by commercial and other financial interests.
The result for the world is war and innocent lives lost in favour of the accumulation of wealth for the few. That is the tragedy for the world, a tragedy of monumental proportions.

Proof
Kingfisher, Sunday, Sep 11 2005, 4:45pm
Philip Ruddock, Federal Attorney General to Australian, hopes to eclipse the neo-cons of the US in the race toward the fascist ideal of social uniformity and control (oppression). Ruddock has invoked his new 'anti-terrorist' laws – not to protect against ‘Islamic terrorists’ as claimed – but to silence voices of opposition, protest and dissent, as was the real intention. The charade was short lived; it was Ruddock’s inadequate and compensatory personality that 'blew it' for the entire conservative right.

Pat Robertson – American Prophet
nano, Thursday, Aug 25 2005, 9:10am
Recent comments (see addendum) by Pat Robertson, ultra-right-wing Christian Zionist, calling for the assassination of Chavez, President of Venezuela, confirms America’s inverted form of ‘Christianity’; Robertson’s religious ideology is clearly Old Testament:
Exodus 15:3 The LORD is a warrior; the LORD is his name. Joshua 6:9 All the silver and gold and the articles of bronze and iron are sacred to the LORD and must go into his treasury. 21. They devoted the city to the LORD and destroyed with the sword every living thing in it; men and women, young and old, cattle, sheep and donkeys. 24. Then they burned the whole city and everything in it, but they put the silver and gold and the articles of bronze and iron into the treasury of the LORD's house. 27. So the LORD was with Joshua, and his fame spread throughout the land. (NIV)

What's wrong with the world?
Kel Richards, Monday, Aug 15 2005, 5:24am
The one thing that is clear from glancing through this book is that there is something dreadfully wrong with this world we live in. But that’s the big question: WHAT’S WRONG WITH THE WORLD?
Why is the world the way it is? Why is there so much evil, wickedness, hurt and suffering? The Bible gives this answer, “everyone looks out for his own interests, not those of Jesus Christ.” (Philippians 2:21, New International Version). That is the Bible’s key to understanding what’s wrong with the world. Jesus made it perfectly clear how we are meant to behave, he didn’t leave it to guesswork, or for us to work out for ourselves, and he didn’t make it obscure or difficult to understand.

Sweeper
peptide, Thursday, Aug 11 2005, 7:48am
It is not often that semantics attracts our attention, but the recent media saturation with the latest word-fad has prompted this response. The latest word that is ‘sweeping’ through the vocabularies of all right-wing speechwriters is (you got it) “sweeping”! Have you noticed that there’s a ‘whole lot of sweeping going on’? “Sweeping new terrorist laws; sweeping new security measures; sweeping new changes”, etc. It is a shame that Bush, Blair and Howard haven’t been swept out of office. But it’s a bigger shame that we are being swept back into a quasi-feudal world of Lords and slaves – no need to guess what your status will be, but more on that later – for now, “the Word was with God, and the Word was God”. Disregard it at your own peril!

Howard’s Line
peptide, Friday, Aug 5 2005, 5:09am
Since the London bombings the Australian mass media has been serving up a steady stream of garbled diatribes from local radical Muslim clerics. One wonders why these fanatics have been kept ‘on tap’ by local security agencies. But after a week of media ‘interviews’ with these unrepresentative Muslims, all becomes clear! Conservative (government) political strategists and media consultants are behind these latest ‘media events’. These relatively easy to locate (moron) fundamentalists are utilised to good advantage by the Howard government and some local political commentators as a means of distracting the public’s attention away from sensitive issues for which the government is directly responsible. It is hoped that public anger, in the likely event of a terrorist strike, will be vented on the local Muslim community rather than Howard and his stooge government.

Shoot First
cleaves, Wednesday, Jul 27 2005, 5:54pm
The UK has recently undergone a social regression to a period in its history (many centuries past) when summary executions by the King’s representatives were common fair. Performing summary executions in the street is not new in England; this practice, however, was determined by the ancient powers to be counter productive – more revolts resulted from this practice than subjection/subjugation. But today, Blair’s England panders more to the racist sentiments of its people than good political sense. So be it, history has already dictated the inevitable outcomes.

Howard and the US
cleaves, Monday, Jul 18 2005, 1:42pm
John Howard, presently visiting the US, ‘leader’ without a national or personal identity and cringer extraordinaire (would someone remind him it’s not an embarrassment to be an Australian). Like his conservative predecessors, who looked to England for an ideology and identity, Howard looks to the US for guidance and direction. Australian history will not be kind to this pathetic, cringing little lackey.

Liberation of hostage Douglas Wood
plait, Thursday, Jun 23 2005, 11:10pm
[We would like to extend our gratitude to those who were directly involved in the release and rescue of Douglas Wood.]
The context of this event is the criminal US invasion and occupation of Iraq and the subsequent opposition to this invasion by the Arab Resistance. To state that this invasion is not going well would be the understatement of the twenty first century. The invading forces are faced with a (growing) concerted and effective resistance, not an unusual or unexpected response in the circumstances.
