Julian Assange: What it means to be an Australian Citizen

Responding to a question regarding going back home to Australia at some stage, Julian Assange of WikiLeaks answered as follows:
“I am an Australian citizen and I miss my country a great deal. However, during the last weeks the Australian prime minister, Julia Gillard, and the attorney general, Robert McClelland, have made it clear that not only is my return impossible but that they are actively working to assist the United States government in its attacks on myself and our people. This brings into question what does it mean to be an Australian citizen - does that mean anything at all? Or are we all to be treated like David Hicks at the first possible opportunity merely so that Australian politicians and diplomats can be invited to the best US embassy cocktail parties.” [Emphasis added.]
Indeed, Oz HAS RARELY IF EVER BEEN REPRESENTED by its cringing, servile, LACKEY, politicians. The COWARDLY BASTARDS have always SHAMELESSLY kowtowed to Imperial Powers, first Britain now the USA and have willingly ABANDONED their citizens to foreign powers – this attitude in STARK CONTRAST to other SOVEREIGN nations, particularly the USA. We recall just recently a former US President, Bill Clinton, making representations then shuttling captured US citizens safely back to the USA from North Korea; and a US Congressman personally escorting a Mormon idiot back to America from Burma after he created massive difficulties for its most famous political dissident, Aung San Suu Ky.
It is not difficult to determine why the American masses turn a blind eye to the most heinous crimes committed by their government overseas when Americans know their government, for all its failings, immediately comes to their RESCUE and assistance in times of trouble.
I would refrain from revealing anymore information based on expert cultural analysis; the opposition pays countless dummies to steer them in the wrong direction and OUR EXPERTISE is a strong component of our ‘armoury’ in our fight against the evil powers that have hijacked our Democracies.
Julian Assange expressed similar sentiments (link below) though in a restrained manner; well, I come from a great Aussie tradition of roughs, immigrant rebels (Kelly) wild colonial boys (Morant) and fuming patriotic nationalists – you’d better fuckin’ believe it – and I am not so restrained in voicing what many Aussies think, but are unable to openly express!
Who could forget the most embarrassing exhibition of cowardice, grovelling and servility ever witnessed in international politics, I of course refer to the most cowardly PM Oz has ever known, John ‘deputy sheriff’ Howard, his head was so far up Bush’s arse that even today he bears a strange American facial tan.
Not to be outdone in the grovelling stakes by the conservatives, Labor FM, Stephen Smith, while the entire world watched, made such a shameless exhibition of grovelling, kowtowing and knee-walking in Washington before Condi Rice that even she couldn’t help but laugh openly – PATHETIC! I could go on but I’d need a bucket.
Understand this and understand it well, most, if not all – past (Keating) and present -- Australian politicians are guilty of TREASON for selling the country and its citizens down the drain. Oz is now overrun by Transnational Corporations raping the nation (and its citizens) and taking 99% of the profits offshore, but that’s another story – unfortunately, there are many, all of which will make very good Legal cases in the near future, you can back it in!
The strength of Oz culture lies in the fact that our political capitals have never removed the shackles of colonialism, each successive Prime Minister runs to ‘big daddy’ simply because they are INCOMPETENT and do not have the balls (or ovaries in Gillard’s case) to administer and manage a WEALTHY, INDEPENDENT, SOVEREIGN NATION -- a situation that elite powers are at pains to maintain!
As a result, rebellion against oppression and exploitation and an ACUTE sense of FAIR PLAY are alive and well in the population, as Julian Assange and others who choose to remain nameless, clearly exemplify.
Real Aussies instinctively FIGHT injustice, criminal powers that murder, rape, exploit and plunder, we have seen it all too often and as it is ingrained in our culture to resist; WE DO SO INSTINCTIVELY, wherever we find it! And it could also be said that it builds a certain INDEPENDENT character and unusual qualities (skills) knowing that we will be abandoned by our disgustingly SERVILE governments if we find ourselves in bother. However, I would remind our treasonous politicians in Canberra that the tables are turning and YOUR DAY OF RECKONING FAST APPROACHES!
Much media static surrounds the figure of Julian Assange -- a TACTIC essentially designed to distract the masses from his work of EXPOSING CRIMINALS in HIGH OFFICE.
I now leave you with his responses to open questions, hosted by the Guardian UK:

NSW Supreme Court solicitor: Letter to Australian Prime Minister Julia Gillard

Letter to Australian Prime Minister Julia Gillard
by Peter Kemp, Solicitor of the Supreme Court of NSW, on 2010-12-04
Dear Prime Minister,
From the Sydney Morning Herald I note you made a comment of "illegal" on the matter of Mr Assange in relation to the ongoing leaks of US diplomatic cables.
Previously, your colleague and Attorney General the Honourable Robert McClelland, announced an investigation of possible criminality by Mr Assange.
As a lawyer and citizen I find this most disturbing, particularly so when a brief perusal of the Commonwealth Criminal Code shows that liability arises under the Espionage provisions, for example, only when it is the Commonwealth's "secrets" that are disclosed and that there must be intent to damage the Commonwealth.
Likewise under Treason law, there must be an intent to assist an enemy. Clearly, and reinforced by publicly available material such as Professor Saul's excellent article.
...Julian Assange has almost certainly committed no crime under Australian law in relation to his involvement in Wikileaks. [Emphasis added.]
I join with Professor Saul also in asking you Prime Minister why has there been no public complaint to the US about both Secretaries of State Condoleezza Rice and Hillary Clinton being in major breach of International law ie UN Covenants, by making orders to spy on UN personnel, including the Secretary General, to include theft of their credit card details and communication passwords. Perhaps the Attorney General should investigate this clear prima facie evidence of crime (likely against Australian diplomats as well), rather than he attempts to prosecute the messenger of those crimes.
It is also disturbing that no Australian official has castigated Sweden for the shameful treatment Mr Assange has received ie his human rights abused, in that he has not been charged and served with papers in the English language regarding the evidence against him of alleged sexual offences. This is contrary to Article 6 of the European Covenant on Human Rights to which Sweden is a signatory nation.
Those offences remain unclear and the Swedish prosecutor Ms Ny appears to be making up the law as she wants. It appears now, by Ms Ny's interpretation that when consensual sex occurs but if a condom breaks, the male party is liable to 2 years imprisonment for sexual assault. All this information is publicly available.
An Australian citizen is apparently being singled out for "special treatment" Prime Minister. There are legitimate concerns among citizens here that his treatment by the Swedes is connected to US interests which are against the activities of Wikileaks, and you will note the strident, outrageous (and illegal) calls inciting violence against him in the US in demands for his assassination, by senior influential US politicians.
Granted that in western political circles, Mr Assange is not flavour of the month, but what he is doing in my opinion, and in the opinion of many here and abroad, is vitally necessary to expose American foreign policy failures and potential war crimes and crimes against humanity--not for the purpose of damaging US interests but to make them accountable. [Emphasis added.]
While we have close and a good relationship with the US, there is no doubt that US influence and power is declining. That we appear to be still posturing, (given that declining power and a new paradigm of privately enforced accountability) to the US on the issue of Wikileaks is, Prime Minister, deeply disappointing.
Yours Faithfully
Peter Kemp.

PayPal cuts off WikiLeaks cash flow -- or another demonstration of the reach of the Criminal Elites
by Lauren Johnston via quill - NY Daily News Sunday, Dec 5 2010, 5:17am
One day after the notorious, secrets-leaking website was booted from its United States-based domain name provider and sent scrambling to find a new home, some of its cash flow has been cut off after online payment provider PalPal pulled the plug on an account used by WikiLeaks to collect donations.
PayPal announced in a blog post that WikiLeaks violated its policies by using its services for "activities that encourage, promote, facilitate or instruct others to engage in illegal activity."
The leaking of classified government documents is illegal in the United States.
It was no longer possible to donate money on the WikiLeaks website Saturday via the site's PayPal button. An error message reading, "This recipient is currently unable to receive money" appeared along with the directions "return to merchant."
PayPal is one of several ways WikiLeaks collects donations.
Separately Saturday, Afghanistan's finance minister warned that WikiLeaks' mass dumping of top-secret diplomatic cables last week could damage U.S.-Afghan relations, msnbc.com reports.
Addressing one of the leaked U.S. Embassy cables, Finance Minister Omar Zakhilwal denied calling President Hamid Karzai "an extremely weak man." Karzai is believed to be furious over the suggestion that members of his diplomatic team may have been critical of his policies behind his back.
The whistle-blower website lost its WikiLeaks.org domain on Friday after U.S. based provider EveryDNS.net cut ties with the site, stating it had been the target of several cyber attacks and that its activities violated the domain provider's terms of use.
"Wikileaks.org has become the target of multiple distributed denial of service attacks. These attacks have, and future attacks would, threaten the stability of the EveryDNS.net infrastructure," a spokesman for the company, headquartered in Manchester, N.H., said.
WikiLeaks quickly re-established service via a Swiss provider and is now located at the address WikiLeaks.ch. On Thursday, the web-hosting arm of Amazon.com kicked WikiLeaks off its servers.
Elusive WikiLeaks founder Julian Assange, whose whereabouts remain unknown, surfaced for the first time Friday after days of silence to host an online chat with Britain's newspaper website TheGuardian.com.
In the online question-and-answer session the 39-year-old Australian spoke for the first time since his site published more than 250,000 confidential U.S. documents on Sunday, sending world leaders in to a frenzy and potentially damaging U.S. diplomatic relationships across the globe.
He shot down suggestions that his documents dump put lives at risk, stating that no one has been harmed in the four years since his site began offering anonymous whistleblowers the chance to unload confidential documents.
"During that time there has been no credible allegation, even by organizations like the Pentagon that even a single person has come to harm as a result of our activities," Assange wrote. "This is despite much-attempted manipulation and spin trying to lead people to a counter-factual conclusion. We do not expect any change in this regard."
Assange was recently added to Interpol's wanted list after being accused of sexually assaulting at least one woman in Sweden, an allegation he denies.
