UN World Leaders Summit

Terrorism – a term of Convenience

The UN has failed in its attempt to define “terrorism” (in a universal sense) at the recent ‘world leaders’ summit – this attempt was doomed from the start. Terrorism remains an extremely valuable and useful term for propagandists due to its non-specificity. Right-wing governments and others utilise this term in order to impose draconian laws and constrictive social policies on domestic populations. In the unlikely event that a universal definition had been agreed upon the outcome would have been a number of ‘world leaders’ in the dock at the Hague ICC for crimes against humanity. I refer to the so-called “coalition of the willing” led by Bush, Blair and Howard.

The role of the UN in international affairs has been severely diminished at the recent summit. The summit became a platform to voice party-political propaganda rather than a location where a consensus or agreements are reached. Howard, after numerous frantic private meetings (Bush) and dinner engagements (Rupert Murdoch) has vocalised the intent of the conservative right in plain terms; the future lies with “nation states” dictating international policy while the UN adjusts to a subordinate role. One only has to determine the collective identities of those with whom Howard (the lackey) had private meetings to understand which “nation states” wish to lead the international community. It‘s all a dream, but that is all the ultra-right has in the face of world power shifting inexorably to the East.

Analysts anticipated the results of this summit; all participants remained totally in character and overlooked the one common factor crucial to all nations – local populations no longer believe their leaders (this applies universally). It was tragic to witness these deluded fools who call themselves ‘world leaders’ spouting their rhetoric at deaf ears. The whole scene bore a similarity to a support group for those with personality disorders rather than a place for developing constructive policies to resolve urgent and crucial issues confronting the survival of humanity.

As populations witness the inability of their leaders to deal with critical issues, the ‘subscription value’ of self-serving governments diminishes. People of all cultures, to a greater or lesser extent, are realising that they have been treated unfairly and inequitably. They no longer accept relegation to a sub-class or status as devalued human beings.

The powers cling desperately to terms like ‘terrorism’ in order to distract and divide in the face of growing awareness and universal unity – the tide is slowly and irresistibly rising. The results of injustice and inequity are assured.

We are One.

Peace to all.
