Prime Minister Rudd shames the nation
by budgie Monday, Jun 9 2008, 10:18am
international / social/political / commentary

There is only one Australian politician that presents a more pathetic figure on the international stage than Foreign Minister Stephen ‘kneepads’ Smith, and that is our new pipsqueak PM, Kevin ‘bereft’ Rudd!

Kevin Dud
Kevin Dud

His first performance on the world stage ended in disaster. Insults from Indonesia come at oblique angles and JI leader Abu Bakar Bashir is expert at hurling derision at Australian leaders; it seems he couldn’t wait to let go at Rudd.

While Rudd was in ‘prancer’ mode at the climate summit held in Bali, Bashir was enjoying a visit – complete with media contingent – with the Bali bombers in jail. They were all pictured laughing and having a great old time partying to the tune of Bashir hurling abuse at the VICTIMS of the Bali bombing! This attack was clearly aimed at Rudd but our pathetic little prancer had no answer for the Indonesians, who always enjoy watching Aussie leaders humiliated.

Our bereft ‘leader’ had no answer for the outrageous outburst and targeted insults from that ratbag, Bashir! It was a lesson in getting to know our new gutless leader.

Rudd could have demanded the surrender of the known killers of the ‘Balibo Five’ but not a peep from the pipsqueak PM.

Former PM John Howard set new lows for Australian leaders in cowardice and servility; we all thought it would be impossible to match his record but Rudd proved us all wrong. Rudd returned to Australia covered in Indonesian shit, with not even a lie of compliance regarding the surrender of the murderers of the Balibo five!

The entire world was waiting to see what calibre of a man Australia had chosen for its leader and what a bloody tragedy Rudd proved to be! After Howard and Rudd it is almost impossible to admit to being an Aussie, the shame of it!

Rudd’s next effort was to comply with American dictates and insult China while on a visit – good one Kev, China is only the worlds leading economy and our largest trading partner but Bush demanded support for the Dalai fraud’s attempt to disrupt China and cause internal dissent.

Let’s not forget the Japanese kicking sushi in Rudd's face over the whaling issue. Have you ever seen a national leader back off so fast? From air and sea surveillance to nothing – ‘onya Kev, you useless prick!

But cop his latest effort, Rudd wants nuclear disarmament – who doesn’t? But he seems to have forgotten the yanks recently tore up a nuclear treaty and used it to ignite a war in the Balkans and another in Central Asia! So it’s a safe bet pretending to be doing something for world peace, isn't it, Kevin? However, INTEGRITY would demand that YOU confront the two nations most likely to use nukes and they are the USA and Israel! Give it your best shot, Kev, you've got ‘Buckley’s and none’ and YOU KNOW IT!

It’s too easy exposing the worst PM we’ve ever had. Challenge them face to face, Kevin; it is not difficult confronting U.S. lies, we do it every day!

Whaling backdown 'humiliating'
by AAP report via reed - News Ltd Monday, Jun 9 2008, 10:05pm

PRIME Minister Kevin Rudd's reluctance to legally challenge Japan's whaling program signifies a "humiliating backdown", the Federal Opposition said.

Leaving Australia yesterday for a five-day trip to Japan, Mr Rudd promoted a diplomatic approach to the whaling issue.

Australia upset Japan earlier this year by sending a vessel to track Japanese whalers and gather evidence for possible international court action, and by releasing footage of a slaughtered mother and calf being hauled on to a boat.

"Our position on the importance of protecting whales has not changed but let's give diplomacy a go for the period ahead," Mr Rudd told Channel 10 as he left Australia.

"There are several opportunities for that to be advanced, including through the upcoming (International Whaling Commission) meeting."

However, Opposition environment spokesman Greg Hunt last night slammed Mr Rudd's decision to pursue a diplomatic approach.

"This is a humiliating backdown after all his tough talk in the lead up to the election last year," Mr Hunt said.

"On 20 May 2007 Mr Rudd announced his whaling policy, promising that a Labor government would 'take Japan and any other country necessary, to court in the International Court of Justice, in order to bring a stop to this practice'."

Mr Hunt said the prime minister had "waved the white flag" on his promise of court action and failed to deliver a plan which he took to the election last year.

Balibo widow slams Rudd cemetery visit
by AAP via rialator - ninemsn Thursday, Jun 12 2008, 8:53pm

The widow of one of the Balibo Five killed in East Timor says she is offended Prime Minister Kevin Rudd is visiting an Indonesian cemetery for war heroes.

Mr Rudd is to lay a wreath later on Friday at the Kalibata Heroes Cemetery, the resting place of Indonesian military veterans and other prominent people.

Shirley Shackleton's late husband Greg was one of five journalists and cameramen killed by Indonesian troops in East Timor in 1975.

An Australian coronial inquest last year found the Australian-based newsmen were deliberately killed to prevent them reporting on Indonesia's invasion of East Timor.

Among those buried at the Kalibata cemetery is Leonardus Benyamin "Benny" Murdani, who led the 1975 invasion and according to human rights activists, was also responsible for some of the worst atrocities during the rule of former president Soeharto.

Mrs Shackleton said hard questions needed to be asked of Mr Rudd and his advisers about the decision to visit Kalibata.

"I'm very disturbed by this," Mrs Shackleton said.

"I believe questions should be asked not only of Mr Rudd, but also of his advisers, what is he thinking of?"

Mrs Shackleton said she had taken the visit to Kalibata by Mr Rudd personally.

"I take it personally, because while he is busy honouring Indonesian soldiers he's obviously not going to honour the Balibo Five, who were murdered by Indonesian soldiers."

"Mr Rudd is up there waltzing around in the cemetery, in the wrong cemetery, laying a wreath," despite the fact a coronial inquiry found her husband and four others were killed in cold blood, Mrs Shackleton said.

She said it "would mean everything" to her if Mr Rudd visited the journalists' grave in Kebayoran Lama cemetery in Jakarta.

"I think it would be wonderful," she said, adding that she would also like to see the remains repatriated.

"They must be repatriated. We cannot have them left up there, it isn't right."

Mrs Shackleton said before he left to cover the invasion of East Timor, her late husband asked her to do everything she could to bring him home if he was captured and imprisoned, as he suffered from bad asthma and could die without medication.

"The last thing he said to me before he left was, 'don't leave me there Shirl'," she said.

"He said, 'do anything, get me out, sell the house'.

"Get me out if I'm in a prison".

"Well, he's in a prison in Indonesia in a graveyard and Mr Rudd isn't even bothering to visit by the sounds of things."

Federal police are considering whether anyone can be prosecuted over the death of the Balibo Five.

It follows a referral from the federal attorney-general's department after NSW deputy coroner Dorelle Pinch recommended those responsible be prosecuted.

She also recommended urgent action to have the remains of the five repatriated for burial.

The coalition and Labor committed before last year's election to the repatriation of the bodies.

Dishonour Role
by chunder Thursday, Jun 12 2008, 9:32pm

Doesn't that little gutless shit just turn your stomach -- at least now we know where his ministers learnt to backflip ... nothing to add to the Age article except perhaps to spit.

Remove Rudd from Office!

Any PM that attracts praise from U.S. Republican politicians -- McCain just heaped praise on Rudd -- leaves much to be desired on the home front. I do not recall the U.S. heaping praise on Whitlam, Hawke or Keating -- only our gutless 'leaders' Howard and Rudd attract praise and the title of deputy (for fuck's sake) sheriff!

For Christ's fuckin SAKE!!!! What has happened to this country?

Who let the COWARDS in the door?
