Recent events have highlighted the failure of institutional religion in today’s world. We do not need to labour the point. Bush should ‘love his enemies and do good to those who would spitefully use him’; instead we have a hypocrite, liar, warmonger and plunderer. Bush is probably the most well known Evangelical Christian in the world today. This group elevates the Bible (a cultural product) to a position of authority reserved for Deity. Placing any thing before (above) the Living presence of God/Infinity/Harmony/Truth is denounced by all religions. It is little wonder this sect is perverse.

Rome offers no improvement, 'Ratzy', the new Pope, refuses to surrender a (Catholic) Croatian war criminal to the ICC. War criminals hiding in (Catholic) monasteries is not new; we recall the escape route of high ranking Nazis from Germany to South America after Hitler’s Reich collapsed. The Catholic Church has a long history of involvement in sordid and cruel politics.

The recent earthquake in Pakistan has demonstrated to the world the real ‘brotherhood’ of Islam; as helicopters drop limited supplies to quake victims, we witness only the strongest/fittest appropriating supplies and running like dogs with a bone, “a salaam um alaykum”, hypocrites, you shame your prophet and God!

The common factor/heritage these religions share is the Mosaic tradition. Can sweet water issue from a bitter spring?

Exodus 15:3 “My God is a God of war, the Lord is his name.” Joshua 6:19 “But all the silver, and gold, and vessels of brass and iron, are consecrated unto the Lord: they shall come into the treasury of the Lord.” 21. “And they utterly destroyed all that was in the city, both man and woman, young and old, and ox, and sheep, and ass, with the edge of the sword.”

There is no shortage of this barbaric filth in the ‘Holy Books’ of the Jews. The God of war, genocide and avarice is a liability not a saviour.

Abraham actually had three sons, Judaism, Islam and Christianity – three bastard sons if ever there was a definition of bastard! These three religions have more blood on their hands than all the other religions combined. History books drip with the blood of innocents and entire civilisations, lost to marauding money-grubbing plunderers of the faith!

The East fares no better; the oppressive caste system of Hinduism is anathema to all that is fair and decent. Numerous other sordid and barbaric practices also characterise this religion.

Political ideologies (capitalism, Marxism etc,) have similar traditions. One of the earliest examples of the ‘class struggle’ is recorded in the Old Testament. Moses (again) as leader of the slave class of Jews, confronts Pharaoh of the ruling elite and demands freedom under threat of violence. Marx could not escape his cultural background; he replaced God with Gold/Economics and advocated the “appropriation of the means of production”, the obvious implication is by violent means. Those who own anything do not readily surrender their possessions on demand.

All institutional religions and State ideologies have failed – Failed! We are now faced with our good sense or more of the same. The tribalist, divisionist beast in us wants it all; succumbing to our primitive instincts today would spell extinction for the human species. We are not only our brother’s keeper we ‘are’ our brother! That which is done to one is done to all.

Universal harmony continues, regardless of our involvement – if we fail, we have only failed ourselves.

Divisionism is death.

We are One – All is One.
