A world of inverted values and priorities

In a world of inverted logic and values war becomes peace and a holocaust – one million dead civilians in Iraq – becomes liberty and democracy! The perpetrators of these crimes enjoy not only their freedom but receive medals and accolades for their ‘efforts’ – fair fuckin’ go!
Kevin 'useless' Rudd
In such an upside-down world should we be surprised to learn that regulatory authorities focus on minor issues at the expense of MAJOR CRIME? A case in point relates to the recent death of a young girl, Gemma Thoms, in Oz who died after swallowing her little stash of recreational drugs; a reaction to the presence of police sniffer dogs at a popular public festival. What a waste, what a crying shame! [Culpability clearly rests with the commissioner and minister, who share responsibility for CONTRIBUTING to the hapless girl’s death!]
The MORONIC, COMPENSATORY PERSONALITIES known as the POLICE fail to INVESTIGATE and arrest REAL criminals -- BANKERS and CORPORATE EXECUTIVES -- who commit MAJOR crimes in plain view! Why haven’t bankers, financial and mining executives been hauled before investigative committees, and the courts when insider deals and collusion are clearly evident?
This ‘ignoring the elephant and attacking the mouse’ (cowardly and incompetent) approach was amusing until innocent citizens began to suffer and now DIE.
Nations and States that ignore their most heinous criminals -- torturers, mass murderers and resource plunderers – would not be considered viable by any stretch of the political imagination.
Allow me to express the POPULAR SENTIMENT by taking a toke on a joint presently doing the rounds. I would add I normally do not smoke but the occasion warrants it, you miserable, INCOMPETENT, murdering PIGS!
Of course redemption is at your blue finger tips – let’s see some REAL WHITE COLLAR crims in the HEADLINES for a change – there’s certainly no shortage of those felons! Try the Capital for starters, then the boardrooms of major mining and financial corporations; you pathetic, compensatory, inadequates!
[‘War crimes!’ Did someone mention war crimes?]
Sniffer dogs 'panicked' overdose victim
Extreme heat would have contributed to the death of a teenager after she swallowed illicit drugs out of panic at seeing police sniffer dogs at Perth's Big Day Out festival, police say.
Gemma Thoms, 17, was with friends when she saw the sniffer dogs shortly before she entered the popular music event at the Claremont Showgrounds on Sunday.
The sight of the dogs caused her to panic, her friends allegedly told police, leading her to swallow an unknown quantity of a drug they believe was ecstasy.
But police on Monday said the girl was dropped off at the showgrounds, which meant she would not have been subject to sniffer dog and police searches carried out at the Showgrounds train station.
"There were a whole pile of people. She entered the venue. It was all too much for her. About an hour later she just collapsed," a police spokeswoman told AAP on Tuesday.
She added that the extreme heat would have contributed to Ms Thoms collapsing.
"If you don't get enough fluids into you, your body just shuts down."
Ms Thoms was given first aid before being taken to Sir Charles Gairdner Hospital, where she died.
Friends of the Perth teenager have posted online tributes to her on Facebook.
"RIP our beautiful Geri, your adventurous streak was what made you, but it got the better of you," friend Bree Fazioli wrote.
"Beautiful little gemmie RIP, i will miss you forever," a post from Fiona McLuckie read.
An autopsy has yet to be conducted to confirm the exact cause of Ms Thoms' death.
NSW Greens MP Sylvia Hale said she had been warning governments for years that a tragedy like Ms Thoms' death might occur if sniffer dogs continued to be used at festivals.
She pointed to a 2006 NSW Ombudsman report that concluded the dogs were ineffective.
"That report concluded that not only were they ineffective, but they are likely to result in harm when young people panic and swallow drugs and this appears to have happened in Western Australia," she told AAP.
Big Day Out concerts were not venues "where you catch the Mr Bigs of drug dealing", Ms Hale said.
"Predominantly you get people carrying small quantities for personal use," she said.
"It's always young people being targeted. You think cocaine is just confined to young people? I don't think so."

Yet another example of our POLIC(e)Y enforcers:
Woman hit by unmarked police car
A WOMAN hit by an unmarked police car on a freeway in Melbourne's west has been taken to hospital with serious injuries.
A Victoria Police spokeswoman said the woman in her 50s was in the inbound lane of the Calder Freeway near McNamara Road, Airport West, about 9.45am (AEDT) today.
Witnesses have told investigators the woman was stopped in the emergency lane changing a car tyre when she was hit.
Police say a light truck travelling in the middle lane was also involved in the crash.
The woman has been taken to the Royal Melbourne Hospital.
Two police senior constables in the unmarked sedan and the truck driver were uninjured.
Two lanes of the freeway and the McNamara Road off-ramp are closed to traffic while Major Collision and Ethical Standards Division investigators examine the scene.

If YOU imagine I am using juxtaposition to highlight POLICE and GOVERNMENT INCOMPETENCE, you would be right (for a change).
Meanwhile, duopoly supermarket chains Woolies and Coles continue to rip-off average Australians with inflated prices -- where is Kevin ‘useless’ Rudd when Corporate irregularities face him? Giving medals to sniffer dogs, of course!
