Feeble response to massive drug production in NATO’s Afghanistan

international / imperialism / commentary

A ‘gem’ of counter intelligence was recently published in a Canadian Military Magazine. NATO commanders are attempting to justify/expand military activity in occupied Afghanistan by proposing that drug eradication be included in military field operations! An ‘interesting’ proposition in view of the fact that America has entered into deals with regional war lords allowing them to gain revenue from drug production in exchange for their support – it’s a dirty business, war, isn’t it?

The magazine article is absurd to the extreme -- we have learnt to expect very little from the military mind; anyone with the least intelligence would not make such an appalling career choice!

Canada's top general, Chief of Defence Staff Walter Natynczyk, indicated in his comments to the media that he supports the widened mandate.

"Most times that we have operations, our soldiers, sailors and airmen have found drugs right there with the Taliban." Natynczyk was quoted as saying, "so the nexus between drugs and terror is very, very strong."
The magazine article seems more a response to mounting criticism of NATO for allowing the drug trade to flourish than anything else. Nevertheless, some background research is warranted!

Let’s be clear from the outset, the (intellectually) ill-equipped North Americans -- the world’s worst fighters and counter intelligence agents -- are attempting to convince us that the ultra-conservative, fanatical, TALIBAN have UNCHARACTERISTICALLY had a change of heart and NOW not only condone drugs but are actively engaged in the drug trade – for fuck’s sake! Give us a break; every shred of historical data and current evidence indicates the CONTRARY, you dumb moose-fuckers – but nice try, who knows, a few Texans may believe you!

The world remembers the notoriously severe and INTOLERANT rule imposed on Afghanistan by the TALIBAN, especially in the area of intoxicating substances, which are all considered TABOO by Muslim religious fanatics! The Taliban had almost eradicated opium growing/heroin production in Afghanistan, but what a difference a NATO invasion makes! From virtually no production to the world’s leading opium and heroin producer – another job well done, NATO!

Afghan heroin now finds its way to Western Europe via another NATO outpost, KOSOVO – coincidence I hear you say, NO, unfortunately!

Given America’s record in Vietnam and the historical involvement of the CIA in drug trafficking, especially heroin and cocaine ‘running,’ the mindless attempt to connect/blame the TALIBAN for the huge escalation in drug production flies in the face of reason.

Armed with high security clearances and criminal inventiveness, characteristic of all such agencies, the CIA engaged in all manner of illegal activities to supplement the reduced funding from Congress.

Jack and Bobby Kennedy initiated a fund starvation scheme to force the agencies, CIA and FBI to toe the Presidents line, which neither agency was inclined to do at the time – imagine that! The CIA contrived never to be starved of funds again, regardless of the social cost involved.

CIA (ad)ventures in the drug trade have been the subject of academic studies innumerable papers/articles and even a Hollywood movie, starring Mel Gibson! Authors and academics, Dr Alfred McCoy and Peter Dale Scott have detailed CIA involvement in the drug trade over the decades.

America has a long and sordid history in the drug trade; Afghanistan could not have become the world’s largest heroin producer in such a short space of time without assistance and support!

Attempting to lay blame for the burgeoning drug problem onto the TALIBAN is absurd.

NATO may be required to offer a more rational argument for the expansion of military activities in Afghanistan! Take another look at the feeble attempt to shift responsibility for the drug problem onto the victim; "so the nexus between drugs and terror is very, very strong,"

What is stronger is the world’s resolve to put an end to the criminal activities of the USA and its few allies.

Do better next time, gentlemen – pathetic!

[As for you, Kilcullen, we can’t wait to have you home again, you traitorous prick.]
