Complicity

Bush confesses his criminality and hopes that his ‘act’ of contrition will save him from the dock. He has finally acknowledged that the invasion (and occupation) of Iraq was/is based on incorrect information (lies). Supporters and citizens who desperately hope that Bush’s admission demonstrates his contrition had their hopes dashed against the hard reality of further sordid deeds – the illegal 'bugging' and monitoring of US citizen’s private communications by the NSA. [Would anyone seriously expect this criminal administration to change character?] Bush’s admission is a political gesture, a strategic manoeuvre in response to increasing international disapproval of the dishonesty of his regime.

Rumsfeld was seen smiling (beaming) during Bush's address to the media! Bush accepted full responsibility for the illegal invasion. Perhaps Rumsfeld thinks that Bush’s insincere gesture exonerates the principal architects of the invasion or that the office of President of the USA offers Bush immunity from the law. The blood of innocent children is not easily removed from culpable hands. All those complicit in the deaths of thousands of innocent civilians will face the consequences of their actions. This is the era of State leaders answering to the courts for their crimes against humanity. No external force could prevent the people exercising their prerogatives and demanding that justice be served (if they were of a mind to do so).

The reality that self-confessed criminals rule the United States of America hasn’t settled in the public’s consciousness (yet). It’s just too horrific a reality for the average American to entertain (or is it?) Rumsfeld, Wolfowitz, Perle and others ‘bank’ on the hope that the people will remain in denial. Rumsfeld’s confidence (and arrogance) in this regard was betrayed by his recent announcement that he would remain in the administration for the full term. God bless America!

The American people are not devoid of reason or a sense of morality as some would think. They are fully aware of the price they pay for petrol and understand that if they are to maintain their way of life others must be exploited and innocent women and children must die in wars of plunder and exploitation. That is the principal reason that Bush has not been arrested – he serves the interests of the people! All are guilty; every time a vehicle leaves the bowser a drop of innocent blood stains the soul of the nation. The nation condemns itself and the nation is its people.

Denial in the face of the obvious makes the American people a tragic laughing stock. Would anyone imagine there is no price (morally, legally and spiritually) to pay for criminal behaviour? I would think not. But there is denial, hypocrisy, double standards and the politics of inversion to help us all bear the burden. ‘They’ are the evil terrorists not us; we are as pure as the driven snow; our President assures us daily – God is on our side!

Let no one ever again ask why? Culpability reeks!

It is Christmas in the very ‘religious’ nation of denial and hypocrisy, I too have been struck with a pang of conscience; I leave you with a quote from the New Testament:

Revelation 18:
“Babylon the great is fallen, is fallen… she shall be utterly burnt with fire… Alas, alas, that great city Babylon, that mighty city! For in one hour is thy judgement come… And the merchants of the earth shall weep and mourn over her… for in one hour is she made desolate.”

The option is embrace your enemy (the enemy is you!)

Peace.
