Gender Predispositions and Social Change

I was awe-struck by a story on the Oz ABC recently – which barely got a run internationally – describing, by inference, the horrendous social obstacles women face in Afghanistan. However, in order to gain a real perspective on the subject we need to amplify those horrendous conditions ten-fold and then marvel at the remarkable bravery of one lone Afghani woman and member of a corrupt, servile, misogynistic all male Afghani Parliament. The challenges this woman faces daily are rape, assault and assassination; contrast with western domestic ‘crises’ like a faulty vacuum-cleaner or toaster! Anyone who has the least knowledge of the VIOLENT, misogynistic, male-dominated archaic, mediaeval culture in which this woman lives cannot help but have the utmost respect for this EXCEPTIONALLY BRAVE WOMAN. Compare her bravery with the ‘bravery’ of male western politicians if you would, the pathetic, servile, figure of Oz PM, Kevin Rudd, for instance!
The link below offers a glimpse into what we could only imagine to be the horrors this woman faces in her fight against, not only primitive cultural constraints BUT also the ‘enlightened,’ murdering, Western occupiers of her country. Consider again the challenges faced by this woman in her opposition not only to the violent misogynism of her culture but also to civilian-killing Western forces wreaking havoc DAILY, even as I write! One cannot help but be thoroughly impressed with this extraordinary woman’s INTEGRITY, BRAVERY and REAL HEROISM – as opposed to the FICTITIOUS Hollywood variety America drapes itself in!
At the risk of waxing lyrical as I am apt to do when confronted with exceptional human beings or circumstances, I would instead leave it to the women of the WORLD to ponder!
We are fully aware that wars and mindless destruction would cease almost immediately if all national leaders were women!
Women have always tended to conflict resolution via communication; men are clearly deficient in those skills, as the current chaotic condition of the world indicates! Men stand in wonderment when they witness a woman’s ability to multitask in frantic and demanding situations. As for nurturing ask any male to define that term and be ready to roar with laughter!
Women appreciate first the need to preserve and protect; women instinctively understand that the means to those ends cannot involve VIOLENCE, destruction or brutality! It is a VERY SORRY course our men have plotted for us today – one million innocent civilians killed in Iraq and four million displaced by the PERVERSE plans of selfish old men and their puppets! I need not elaborate further as all women know the difference; I only wish to highlight the astounding battle waged by one woman alone against odds which would turn armies of men!
To date the most positive story that has come out of Afghanistan is the story of Malalai Joya; let her be an inspiration to all women everywhere!
Lets us all work together and heal the many injuries our men have inflicted on OUR world.
Malalai Joya flies in the face of Western (Greer) feminism, which is actually male envy! Women in boilersuits challenging men as truck drivers and airline pilots misses the point; women's strength lies in the gender specific qualities only women possess (in abundance). Indeed, those who give LIFE, nurture and sustain it are best suited to arrive at sustainable, non-violent solutions for everyone.
Peace.
