Competence and good governance are required Mr Rudd, NOT more Laws!

Faced with Real issues, Rio Tinto exec arrest, Balibo justice, water polluting Uranium/BHP mining etc, the show pony PM of Australia, Kevin ‘photo shoot’ Rudd, opts for diversion – creating more laws -- rather than addressing and dealing with problems head-on! It’s a matter of COMPETENCE, the principal quality lacking in Oz government today!

The local media is awash with examples of INCOMPETENCE and gross failures at almost every level of Government in Australia – it must stop, it must cease here and now! ‘Rout the Rot’ and restore the nation to its former functional state. The DELETERIOUS and subversive effects that lackey politicians Howard and Rudd have had on the nation must be RECTIFIED!

Howard introduced numerous draconian laws to Australia but failed to address the nation’s critical issues – it was all an exercise in distraction and social manipulation; outmoded, ‘one-trick pony’ games that Rudd’s advisers continue to play! Distraction doesn’t ‘cut it’ any longer, which seems obvious to everyone except Rudd and his useless advisers!

I would add that the entire western world has wizened up considerably since all the LIES, CRIMES and DECEITS of previous conservative governments, Cheney/Bush/Blair/Howard, have been EXPOSED!

The question that must be asked of Rudd and his useless ministers is WHY play feeble games of distraction, avoidance and diversion when addressing and dealing with problems offers the only path to viable solutions? The answer is painfully clear, Rudd and his useless government are INCAPABLE of effective governance, as Rudd’s appalling Rio Tinto, Balibo, Jakarta bombing intelligence and BHP water pilfering and pollution FAILURES clearly indicate!

It has reached the stage where politicians from Obama to Rudd are no longer able to speak for fear of releasing a floodgate of contradictory information and exposing themselves as the HYPOCRITES, liars and puppets they really are!

The CURE is simple, restore REPRESENTATIVE DEMOCRACIES THROUGHOUT THE WESTERN WORLD, never again vote for major (puppet) parties – the people have had enough of lies and manipulations at their expense. The banking and financial DEBT based system is now exposed as a SHAM; private bankers print money from air in order to indebt the WORLD in their webs of EXPLOITATION and DECEIT, while THEY grow FAT and RICH on the misery of others!

‘Killing a banker a day keeps disparities and recessions away,’ may prove to be a popular slogan in the near future!

DEMOCRACY is defined as majority rule, NOT minority rule via bought, puppet politicians incapable of finding their dicks to take a piss!

WE ALL KNOW WHAT WE MUST DO!

Report from 3 News follows:

Australia plans tougher counterterrorism laws

Australia will consider creating a new crime of inciting violence based on race, religion or nationality as part of a review of the nation's tough counterterrorism laws, the government said.

Attorney General Robert McClelland told a security forum that a package of draft changes to the nation's security and counterterrorism laws will be released for public discussion in the coming weeks.

"A range of reforms will be put forward for consultation including seeking public input in relation to an offence of inciting violence against an individual on the basis or race, religion or nationality," according to a transcript of McClelland's speech released by his office on Wednesday.

The new law would expand existing legislation that outlaws inciting violence against groups and would increase opportunities for prosecutions.

The review is the first overhaul of Australia's counterterrorism regime since Prime Minister Kevin Rudd's centre-left government was elected in late 2007.

It was planned before seven people, including three Australians, were killed last week in terrorist suicide bombings in two Jakarta hotels.

Lawyers and civil liberty groups have condemned as draconian many of the tough new measures introduced by Australia's previous centre-right government following the al-Qaeda attacks on Washington and New York on September 11, 2001.

The measures include powers to detain people without charge and to force suspects to wear electronic manacles that enable police to monitor their movements.

Lawyer Jim Kennan, a former state attorney general, said Australia's counterterrorism laws were already too sweeping.

"I don't think there are examples that have been demonstrated here or overseas where the terrorist laws aren't strong enough," Kennan told Australian Broadcasting Corp. radio.

"Rather the concern is that in some cases ... they have led to injustices," he added.

Robert Stary, a defence lawyer with experience in counterterrorism law, said some laws should be repelled, including those that allow authorities to detain suspects to prevent a terrorist attack.

He said the laws made Australia a hypocrite, which criticized China for holding Australian mining executive Stern Hu without charge on suspicion of espionage.

Oz discovers that TOLERATING SERVILE, INCOMPETENT, GOVERNMENT comes at great COST to the Nation!

From the Guardian UK:

by Ian Sample, Science reporter.

Population growth, pollution and invasive species are having a disastrous effect on species in the southern hemisphere, a major review by conservationists warns.

Earth is experiencing its "sixth great extinction event" with disease and human activity taking a devastating toll on vulnerable species, according to a major review by conservationists.

Much of the southern hemisphere is suffering particularly badly, and Australia, New Zealand and neighbouring Pacific islands may become the extinction hot spots of the world, the report warns.

Ecosystems in Polynesia, Micronesia and Melanesia need urgent and effective conservation policies, or the region's already poor record on extinctions will worsen significantly.

Researchers trawled 24,000 published reports to compile information on the native flora and fauna of Australasia and the Pacific islands, which have six of the most biodiverse regions on the planet. Their report identifies six causes driving species to extinction, almost all linked in some way to human activity.

"Our region has the notorious distinction of having possibly the worst extinction record on Earth," said Richard Kingsford, an environmental scientist at the University of New South Wales in Sydney and lead author of the report. "We have an amazing natural environment, but so much of it is being destroyed before our eyes. Species are being threatened by habitat loss and degradation, invasive species, climate change, over-exploitation, pollution and wildlife disease."

The review, published in the journal Conservation Biology, highlights destruction and degradation of ecosystems as the main threat. In Australia, agriculture has altered or destroyed half of all woodland and forests. Around 70% of the remaining forest has been damaged by logging. Loss of habitats is behind 80% of threatened species, the report claims.

Invasive animals and plants have devastated native species on many Pacific islands. The Guam Micronesian kingfisher is thought to be extinct in the wild following the introduction of the brown tree snake. The impact of invasive species is often compounded by pollution and burgeoning human populations on the islands, which have outstripped their capacity to deal with waste. Plastics and fishing gear are an ongoing danger.

The impact of humans on wildlife is likely to increase in Australasia and the Pacific islands. By 2050, the population of Australia is expected to have risen by 35%, and New Zealand by 25%, while Papua New Guinea faces a 76% increase and New Caledonia 49%.

More than 2,500 invasive plant species have colonised Australia and New Zealand, competing for sunlight and nutrients. Many have been introduced by governments, horticulturists and hunters. In addition, the report says, average temperatures in Australia have increased, in line with climate change predictions, forcing some species towards Antarctica and others to higher, cooler ground.

The report highlights several studies that point to serious threats from diseases such as avian malaria and the chytrid fungus, linked to declines in frog populations. An infectious facial cancer is spreading rapidly among Tasmanian devils and populations of the world's largest marsupial predator are believed to have fallen by more than 60% as a result.

Plants have also fared badly: a root fungus deliberately introduced into Australia has destroyed several species.

The report sets out a raft of recommendations to slow the decline by introducing laws to limit land clearing, logging and mining; restricting deliberate introduction of invasive species; reducing carbon emissions and pollution; and limiting fisheries. It raises particular concerns about bottom trawling, and the use of cyanide and dynamite, and calls for early-warning systems to pick up diseases in the wild.

"The burden on the environment is going to get worse unless we are a lot smarter about reducing our footprint," said Kingsford. "Unless we get this right, future generations will surely be paying more in quality of life and the environment. And our region will continue its terrible reputation of leading the world in the extinction of plants and animals."
