In the wake of the Jakarta bombings and the MASSIVE FAILURE of Australian and US ‘intelligence agencies’ in detecting the OBVIOUS (see link) the Oz government has ‘pulled’ a desperate terrorist arrest and exaggerated a terrorist threat in order to appear as competent – the threat was allegedly to a MILITARY BASE on the outskirts of Sydney, a poorly 'chosen' target given the ABUNDANCE of high value ‘soft’ targets in capital cities!

Notwithstanding the odour that is already emanating from these ‘terrorist’ arrests -- this type of arrest is typically known in police circles, as ‘pulling one off the backburner;’ that is, a known criminal or gang under constant surveillance is arrested for reasons other than a perceived IMMEDIATE threat to the public or property.
These arrests are almost always POLITICALLY motivated and are usually resorted to when agencies/institutions/police and/or government need to appear competent!
The ‘terrorist threat’ in this instance is PURPORTED to be a motley crew of Somali and Lebanese ‘terrorists’ – a very unusual mix in Oz -- known as ‘al-Kebab’ (I only kid you a bit).
The government has been unusually careful with its wording regarding the arrest of five individuals -- by four hundred (gutless) Australian police! Guarded comments from government usually indicate a weak case – the Dr. Haneef travesty immediately springs to mind!
When is a THREAT NOT really a ‘THREAT?’ Answer: when the subject/s are KNOWN to authorities and are under constant surveillance! However, the hysterical (400 hundred police) arrests do support rumours of a beat-up or political arrest of CONVENIENCE.
Perhaps some background info may assist those unfamiliar with the appalling level of INCOMPETENCE at all levels of Australian government, better understand the situation.
The current lackey PM, Kevin ‘hair dryer’ Rudd, imagined the nation ran on autopilot so he concentrated on arranging photo opportunities for vanity's and appearance's sake. However, that folly resulted in the world appreciating Rudd as a vain, political pushover -- given recent international pressures that assessment would seem to be accurate.
Rudd is now under severe pressure both at home and abroad. His failures regarding the Balibo Five, Stern Hu, Asian student enrolments and Russian import bans are causing major concerns in Washington and on the home front. Not the least reason being managerial incompetence leading to pressure on America and instability in the region!
Allow me to assure daft Americans that the latest ‘terrorist’ arrests are Rudd’s ill-advised, TRANSPARENT, pathetic attempts to salvage his reputation and appear as something other than the world’s most inept and servile politician!
We note that Rudd’s first attempt to salvage HIS government’s reputation with hurriedly drafted ‘additional’ terrorist laws, failed to gain traction with the public.
Rudd immediately attracted the scorn of legal advocates and citizens alike, all of whom cited the NUMEROUS, ‘sweeping’ DRACONIAN terrorist laws instituted by the former Howard conservative government. After a decade of Howard's manipulative politics Aussies easily detect feeble manipulations and tactical distractions. Rudd’s efforts in this direction only earned him more minuses for superficial thinking and shallow, visionless politics.
It should also be noted that Rudd did not pursue or even replace the serving AFP chief, Mick ‘dropkick’ Keelty, who is suspected of colluding with the former PM and senior ministers in the failed frame-up of an innocent Indian doctor on terrorist charges, a plot designed to serve the POLITICAL interests of John Howard!
Rudd however, did inadvertently demonstrate that HIS Attorney General is a moron; please note the logic of the new “raft” of laws: “.. a raft of changes to Australia's counter-terrorism laws, including one targeting those who radicalise people, then try to tip them over the edge into launching an attack based on political views, ethnicity or religion.” [Emphasis added.] We would, as would numerous first year law students, wish to know HOW exactly a person is ‘tipped over the edge’ into launching attacks/crimes against their will. Perhaps by ‘magic’ or more effectively, via FOX news, a proven, government sanctioned, method!
Numerous references could be made to the illegal invasion of Iraq and former PM, Howard’s role in SLAVISHLY obeying American CRIMINAL dictates and lying to the Australian public regarding ‘aluminium tubing’ purportedly used in Iraq for nuclear weapons manufacture or his fervent support of the many groundless LIES and FABRICATIONS relating to WMD! YES, there IS plenty to answer for! [Nano-thermite particles discovered in dust at ground zero (9/11) requires the most DETAILED explanation, but we’ll leave that to the lying, CRIMINAL, zero credibility, American administration!]
We should not forget the issue at the VERY BASIS of these arrests in Oz, the meaning/definition of the word “TERRORISM” and recall that it was the USA that REFUSED to support a UN definition of the word primarily because America would then be clearly identifiable AND LIABLE, as the world’s leading terrorist State! It’s the CIVILIAN DEATH TOLL that gives the game away, Jethro; can YOU name the world’s leading civilian killing nation? Of course you can, A-M-E-R-I-C-A!
Today, America’s status as the most heinous and callous (drone attacks) terrorist State, is the world’s worst kept ‘secret!’

Australia is well placed to weather the current financial debacle providing the nation has INDEPENDENT, COMPETENT, LEADERSHIP. Servile, 'what do I do now, Washington, leaders,' like Keating, Howard and Rudd are to be avoided at ALL costs if we are to survive the INEVITABLE collapse.
