Tail Pursuits: The meandering of men
by ninn Thursday, Mar 2 2006, 1:42am
international / miscellaneous / commentary

We laugh when we see a dog chase its tail, yet are we so superior? Do we not seek what we already possess? The dog’s tail is not elsewhere or ‘external’, the dog thinks/believes its tail must be captured though it was never lost or disconnected. When people chase externals, Gods, religions, ideologies they seek that which they already possess (solace/identity/security/redemption/joy/harmony) yet it is the same canine ignorance that deludes people as deludes the poor dumb beast. To seek what one possesses is to lose it through the process of seeking – seeking is not possessing!

Where did I ‘leave’ my happiness/joy/bliss, where is my rest and peace, where is my redemption and release? Perhaps I/we have lost nothing – perhaps we have been deceived! Who could rob us of our souls? Who could rob us of the quality of existence? There is only one person who, by virtue of proximity, could possible rob us of our very essence and that person is the eternal greedy pig/fool/sloth/coward/whinger/whiner/defeatist/infantile/ignorant ‘dog’ chasing the tail it has never lost.

Watch the life - keep it
See the death - leave it
All is contained - that’s all
Watching steps causes fall
There’s nothing gained
And nothing lost
No-thing there is
And THAT is ALL.

We are already perfect/complete/continuous bliss – essential human nature is eternal, why would you try and torture it and rob yourselves of peace? Let it be; it ain’t broken so don’t try and fix it!

Do not be deceived by externals.

We are One.

Peace
