Assange: the Price of Infamy
by Kismo Wednesday, Mar 9 2011, 11:18pm
international / mass media / commentary

I couldn’t help but publish this amusing excerpt from an article by Sergei Varshavchik, in RIA Novosti, titled, “Saving Private Assange” – ‘saving Assange’s privates,’ may have been more appropriate considering his current legal predicament; however, it seems ‘glamour boy’ Assange is griping bitterly over the fact that director Steven Spielberg, a very pro-American Jew, is ignoring Assange’s own biased memoirs in favour of other biased accounts from The Guardian team, in order to produce yet another biased account in movie form; in literary circles it's called ‘metafiction!’ Perhaps now Assange may learn the value of ANONYMITY in his profession – roflmfao?

Assange, for all his ‘brilliance’ is a self-serving narcissist and fatally flawed personality, not an uncommon type in Australia – Canberra is particularly prone to these characters, Whitlam, Hawke, Keating, Rudd, Turnbull, immediately come to mind!

There is more irony in the entire Assange saga than the water that flows over Niagara Falls. I leave you with the excerpt; savour the irony, there is no doubt much more to come:

“Bullshit as history

The long arm of American law is not long enough for the moment. But it appears that Assange will be extradited to Sweden, where he stands accused of sex crimes. Legal problems aside, a movie based on books written by Assange's detractors will obviously not improve his battered image. Assange is outraged that Spielberg's studio seemed to make a point of ignoring Assange's own memoirs, which he is currently working on. On Twitter, Assange was scathing in his criticism of Spielberg's plans: "This is how bullshit ends up being history."

Assange may very well see the project as hit piece ordered by the State Department or the Pentagon. One thing is for sure: with the legendary Spielberg at the helm, the movie will surely be seen by millions, if not billions of people.

So what is Spielberg's interest in Assange? I think the director is simply captivated by the story of an extraordinary personality who went up against some of the most powerful people in the world.

Spielberg's filmography is as varied as it is vast, from the thriller "Jaws" to the biopic "Catch Me If You Can," which tells the story of Frank Abagnale Jr., a young and brilliant con man in the 1960s, who manages to evade capture for years. The film is based on Abagnale's memoirs, and he also worked as a consultant on the film. Perhaps Assange could be assuaged by a similar offer.”
How sweet it is! I’m sure ‘gifted’ Assange is well aware that history is an ‘agreed upon fable’ or ‘the fiction of the victor’ or as Napoleon put it, ‘agreed upon myth.’

No matter how you look at it Julian, you come out second best; see you in Sweden. But don’t forget to fill the coffers of a legion of parasitic lawyers on the way, you dunce!

The only hero that could emerge from this saga is man of conscience and torture victim, Bradley Manning.
