Freud would have a field day with the Costello brothers at the moment. One is the Australian Federal Treasurer, our much ‘loved’ local supercilious prick, Peter Costello; the other is the Reverend Tim Costello who poured his Christian scorn all over the G20 conference in which his brother was taking great pride. The Rev. Tim, stated (paraphrase) that the conference was a non-event, a waste of time! The Treasurer’s reaction is of course sibling indignation, which he is unable to vent on his good Christian brother who holds the moral high ground -- representing the starving children of the world. To avoid ridicule and international embarrassment, Peter has decided to attack the young G20 protesters, in an obvious effort to assert what very little ‘face’ is left in the circumstances. [Local university psychology majors have been offered an early Christmas treat for their final papers!]
Facing social impotence and repressed rage against his brother, Peter is furiously targeting the very naughty protestors at the conference. How dare they exercise their democratic rights, disrupt proceedings and embarrass our very conceited, arrogant Treasurer in front of his international guests -- the shame of it all!
Mass media outlets are today blaring with threats of revenge from the Treasurer! Peter Costello has mustered the services of Victorian Police Commissioner (Christine) and the Federal Police Chief (Mick) in his efforts to regain face and the respectability he lost fighting his brother in the family backyard!
Everyone who has undergone the ‘cure’ will tell you public outpourings of guilt and shame offer the quickest road to recovery! It’s launder your personality problems in public day for our much ‘loved ‘ Federal Treasurer – the shame of it all!
Peter, Mick and Christine, are desperately attempting to nail the leaders of an international communist and terrorist conspiracy, is no one safe? A plot to overthrow the lackey Australian government may soon be uncovered (give us all a break!)
The infantile actions of a few rogue protestors are matched only by the emotionally stunted, immature reaction of the Federal Treasurer. The fact remains that the overwhelming majority of protesters chose to exercise their very important democratic right without the use of violence.
Australia should actually thank the protestors for demonstrating to the nation that vain little Pete, is definitely NOT Prime Minister material.
Postscript:
According to the latest bulletin, Costello, in his desperation, is attempting to target one group that openly adopted the logo/slogan of “Stop G20”; the logo cleverly resembled a street ‘Stop sign’. However, this presents as a sinister message to the bruised mind of the Treasurer. It remains to be seen how many senior public servants and bureaucrats wish to share in the Treasurer’s embarrassment and departure from reason.
