Only in Australia: APEC ‘security’ easily breached - International Social/Political

An Aussie TV comedy team armed with three black SUVs flying Canadian flags, faked APEC plates and a number of ‘security agents’ running along side the fake motorcade were waved through two security checkpoints and were about to breach the third and final checkpoint when one of the team exited a vehicle dressed as Osama Bin Laden! ONLY THEN did real security wake up to the ruse!

After sitting down to a breakfast of bananas this morning, Australian security chiefs are now in damage control; their pathetic excuses only serve to amplify their folly and stupidity, they would have been better advised to laugh it off. However, without dwelling on the comedy fanfare, two old and very accurate adages come to mind, “too many cooks spoil the broth” and “the small always overcomes the large!”

The absurd overkill and sheer size of the diverse APEC security platform -- police, federal and state, military, spooks and private security -- made it impossible to adequately manage or coordinate from a rapid response point of view. The comedy team (and many others) easily identified the glaring problem and literally drove a truck through the security holes it offered – and more power to the bold and brazen Aussie spirit for doing so!

Some commentators actually accuse the police of providing the comedy entertainment; a quick glance at the above image (taken by a civilian) highlights the incompetence of local authorities. For those not familiar with security procedures or sniper training, the sniper rifle provides both the line of sight (scope) and the means of death or injury. During operations the sniper and his weapon are NEVER separated; an unattended sniper rifle provides much amusement for real professionals. Target spotting is performed by a spotter who works with high-powered binoculars in TANDEM with the sniper – URBAN SNIPING IS A TWO-MAN OPERATION! Even allowing for a single sniper in some locations, an unattended weapon is unforgivable in any security or military operation. The fact that this photograph could even be taken also compromises security arrangements.

I am a taxpayer and I want my money back – failing that, the elections will provide me with satisfaction. Conservative governments and Fascist State Premiers will no doubt become the ‘targets’ of many Aussie citizens appalled by the whole APEC circus. The symbol of the steel fence will not be long forgotten by Aussies in every corner of our EGALITARIAN and FREE, DEMOCRATIC land!
