‘Robobugs’ and Psychological Warfare
by U-B3 Thursday, Oct 11 2007, 1:32pm
international / social/political / commentary

It seems that recent anti-war protests in Washington were also host to some strange little ‘bugs’ seen by protesters and other independent observers to be flying in formation and manoeuvring in unison above the protesters! We can confidently rule out real insect activity as real insects do not fly or manoeuvre in tight formation, if indeed strange flying machines were actually seen! However, for the purposes of this short piece we will take the reports at face value!

We are aware the U.S. engages in some bizarre warfare strategies and experimental technologies, most of which -- over 99% -- prove to be impractical and fail in the field. However, when vast sums of money are involved in ridiculous research projects some uses must be squeezed from some developed technologies – enter the flying ‘bug,’ pictured.

A reading of the original article (link below) reveals the primary/dominant discourse located in the secondary layer of text, the first layer is occupied by the subject/point of focus, a flying ‘robobug.’ The primary message transmitted by the dominant layer of text is simply ‘be afraid, be very afraid.’ The implied message is fear us on the basis of our ‘awesome’ ability to create robotic flying insects and other odd machines. [None of which has any practical value whatsoever, I might add!]

Note the tone of the quoted text from the article: "I heard someone say: ‘Oh my god, look at those!’ A student recalled; ‘I look up and I'm like, what the hell is that?' They looked kind of like dragonflies or little helicopters. But those are not insects." The target group in this case is young student protesters who are clearly being psychologically discouraged from participating in protests or other dissenting activity against a State. A quote from an ‘independent’ lawyer (no less) is also included; “Bernard Crane saw them, too. ‘I'd never seen anything like it in my life,’ the Washington lawyer said, I thought, is that mechanical, or is that alive?”

The tone of these quotes reminds one of a 50’s “B” grade sci-fi movie! But Americans are less educated and more amenable to the media than people elsewhere and what appears as thin propaganda to us might actually be effective in the good ol’ USA and other semi-literate or socially unaware nations.

The writer of the original article is clearly a geek and possibly a chronic masturbator in dire need of a life (and less hand cream).

The author omitted to mention that these tiny ‘flying bugs,’ which provoke so much ‘shock and awe’ in lobotomised America, can be brought down with a garden hose, though he does mention a gust of wind also renders them ineffective!

Meanwhile in the real world America continues to be led by incompetent buffoons and sociopathic criminals. The population remains paralysed by manufactured fears and thin propaganda. The combination of criminal leadership and a thoroughly contractive population is of course disaster of the highest order which is presently manifested as a losing war and one million dead innocent civilians – but we should never allow a holocaust to interfere with our sci-fi ‘realities’ and national fears!

For those interested in experimental warfare we provide the following link to a highly readable and revealing essay (in four parts) on Information Warfare in the Post-modern era:
