Authorities desperate to stigmatise Hicks

The South Australian Premier, Mike Rann, is best known for his corrupt complicity in allowing BHP Billiton to extract -- FREE OF CHARGE -- millions of litres (per day) of precious drinking water from OUR artesian basin. One can only imagine the amount or ‘incentives’ offered this ‘honourable’ politician for the privilege! A man with no moral fibre is in no position to judge or demand apologies from anyone, especially victims of torture.

However, Mike Rann today demanded that David Hicks apologise for his past follies, and by inference, enduring over 5 years of the most horrendous torture at the hands of the murdering Americans! Do you think an apology from Howard, Bush, and Blair for THEIR complicity in the deaths of over one million innocent Iraqi civilians would be appropriate, Mr Rann? But we know that bought politicians do as they are told by those who own them so today we have a demand for an apology from a corporate lackey and politician in need of a thorough investigation himself!

It is about time to expose the scandalous arrangements Rann has entered into with BHP and conduct a full investigation into fund transfers. The question of ownership of national resources would also be raised; if BHP imagines it owns the nation's water in times of severe drought it may be in for a rude shock. My advice to you is quit while you're marginally ahead or risk losing the lot!

The demands of a questionable character are easily dismissed; however, the right-wing Murdoch rag, The Australian -- where staff do exactly as they are told by the almighty Rupert – today featured an article by a Melbourne criminal barrister clearly designed to stigmatise Mr. Hicks! Only 48 hours prior to these demands and slurs the Prime Minister and the leader of the opposition both stated that Hicks was entitled to a ‘fair go’ after his release from prison!

Matters of guilt or innocence aside, a prison sentence is considered by the State as satisfying a debt to society – notwithstanding the illegality of the proceedings that coerced and ‘convicted’ Hicks! I would remind our legal ‘expert’ – who seems to have left his brain in someone’s pocket – that he omitted, as did Rann, to consider the effects of over 5 years of torture. Both the article and the rant are easily dismissed as services rendered – but to whom we would all like to know!

Perhaps we should subject persons who wish to harangue, pursue and slur Mr. Hicks after he has served his sentence, to one week in a sensory deprivation tank and watch their minds peel like sunburnt skin! A week in a sensory deprivation tank – an apparatus with which I am extremely familiar -- would provide an experience akin to a year of solitary confinement in a torture facility such as Guantanamo Bay.

Anytime you’re ready, ‘gentlemen!’

any astute politician familiar with Oz culture would not pursue Hicks after his release. It is simply unAustralian and would therefore lack popular support.

but we know that local servile lackeys attempting to brand Hicks and extract apologies are only doing the bidding of their overseas masters!

the people are not impressed -- been out of the country too long, Rupert?
