Contrasting celebs: humanitarian Jolie vs white trash Hilton

Celebrity is its own worst enemy; however, Angelina Jolie may be redefining modern celebrity in her new role as UN ‘goodwill ambassador’ to Iraq!

The world is accustomed to negative behaviour from ‘celebs;’ are we really witnessing celeb reform with Jolie and Pitt at the vanguard or is this just another publicity stunt? Time will tell but with Jolie there seems to be a degree of sincerity, please excuse my cynicism in relation to Hollywood celebs!

The porno antics of white trash, little rich girl, Paris ‘no talent’ Hilton -- the antithesis of humanitarian Jolie – has certainly reflected badly both domestically and internationally. Hilton has become the icon of American degeneration, decadence and superficiality. The mega-rich, morally bankrupt, Hilton typifies everything that is wrong with American society. In contrast, Jolie seems to be making some progress with addressing the need to focus on Iraq’s huge displaced persons or internal refugee crisis -- the murdering Bush regime has shown little regard for the welfare of Iraqi citizenry to date. Bush and his band of murderers are only concerned with Iraqi oil, perhaps Paris Hilton should apply for the position of moral spokesperson for the Bush regime!

If Jolie is able to save the lives of innocent Iraqi men, women and children in her new role then more power to her. However, it would take more than a UN title and ‘goodwill’ to turn the tide in holocaust Iraq.

Get down and get dirty, Angelina, address the political causes of the problem. Target the war criminals that created the problems in the first instance then demand justice. Witnessing the healing effect on a population after arresting war criminals is always gratifying – people are capable of taking care of themselves when their persecutors are removed.

The solution, Angelina, if you’re up to it is get radical, tell the truth and demand justice for Iraq.

We recall a previous Hollywood celeb making a mash of it; perhaps a tip or two from Jane Fonda may assist you in the future!
