Australian kiss-arse politics

If anyone harboured any doubts regarding Australia’s CONTINUING role as sycophantic, servile, cringing, lackey to America, doubt no more. Rudd confirmed ‘our’ position at the recent NATO summit with a subservient salute to his commander, George W Bush. It was tragic and amusing to see pipsqueak Rudd, clearly out of his depth in Europe, chasing the bully of the class for comfort!

.. yes Sir, three bags full ..

Rudd’s widely reported salute really does drive home the new Australian cringe. Foreign minister, Stephen ‘kneepads’ Smith, on an earlier visit to Washington, disgraced the nation with a servile performance that bettered even Howard’s shameful efforts. Smith’s kow-towing and obvious grovelling during his Washington press conference aroused a condescending laugh from Condoleezza Rice – she could barely contain herself with mirth and self-satisfaction after pressuring the new foreign minister to demonstrate publicly his support for ‘daddy’ America!

It wasn’t always like this, especially with previous Labor leaders. Gough Whitlam put Australia on the international map as an independent nation; Whitlam toured Europe meeting European leaders as an equal – the colonial cringe was traditionally characteristic of Australian conservatives, not Labor. But Rudd has broken with Labor tradition -- upheld since Whitlam by Labor leaders Hawke and Keating.

Rudd effectively ‘jumped ship’ by modelling himself on Howard, the previous conservative leader. For those Australians who imagined they were voting for change, it should now be clear that Rudd is a man who lacks vision and spine. He is a man of the status quo, a servile, conservative lackey -- Howard would be proud!

Australia has become the class weakling that offers the bully material goods and oral sex in exchange for the 'promise' of protection -- we should not forget the track record of the USA and its inability to protect itself or wage successful wars!

It seems that Rudd’s senior ministers also share their leader’s attitude – if not, we would have heard their protestations by now!

We should not forget or be distracted from the primary OBLIGATION of national leadership, that is to manage local issues EFFECTIVELY, rather than prance ineffectively on the world stage – what a thorough failure and disgrace our 'Labor’ leader actually is! There are numerous crucial issues and crises on the home front that require urgent attention and the hand of strong leadership.

Where does it say that an ineffective ‘show pony’ should be tolerated for his entire term – especially at great cost to the nation?
