It may be time for a change; the credentials of Kevin Rudd, new leader of the opposition in Australia, certainly indicate that a change of national leadership may be on the horizon. Kevin Rudd, the man from KPMG and DFAT, with the added bonus of strong conservative Christian values, is looking like a prime candidate for change at National level BUT (and it’s a biggie) will the real rulers of Australia, the Macquarie Bank/Group and the huge resource/mining Transnational Corporate sector back the ‘wild parochial boy’ from Queensland in his bid for the top puppet job as Prime Minister?

The now perfectly servile, economically colonised, hole in the ground economy that is Australia – tamed by the obedient Howard team – no longer presents a headache for the real powers regardless of who actually becomes the new puppet leader. Nobody with a KPMG and DFAT background could be considered a man of the people by any stretch of the neo-colonial imagination. However, the famous political axiom, “things must change so that they remain the same,” always applies. You never know your luck in the unluckiest country in the developed world!

It’s the Pacific Islanders that show us the way. Imagine the hide of these people actually entertaining the notion that the land they inhabit belongs to the people and NOT Transnational Corporations! Howard has recently jettisoned the inherent rights of the Australia people with amazing ease. Twenty million people daily witness thousands of millions of dollars plundered from the nation while the servile Howard government rewards hardworking Australians with third world working conditions, crippling tax disincentives, skyrocketing food prices, and interest rate hikes that have broken the backs of many young families. BUT billions in profits continue to fill the coffers of rapacious, polluting, corporate exploiters – have Australians removed ‘equity’ and ‘disparity’ from their lexicons?

‘Fair suck of the sav’, Macquarie Group and other buccaneer corporations, when is enough, enough? The ever present risk that the people may actually realise that it is they who actually control the fortune and destiny of THEIR respective nations remains the ultimate nightmare for all Corporate exploiters. It’s not revolution in the Australian air it is REPRESENTATION that the Corporations fear most; should the nation be rescued by the people and their REAL REPRESENTATIVES or should national leadership change so that things remain the same – that is the question!

How far are the Corporations willing to push their luck before the inevitable retaliation, how long before the people realise they have an inherent right to share equitably in the wealth of the nation – those are the questions that concern the real rulers of Australia, not which groomed puppet will do their bidding in the future!

In the meantime saturate the mass media with distracting spin, sport and plenty of sex while we deliberate. We defy this author and similar thinking Australians to buck the powers – do your best, suckers!
