But to add insult to injury, and as a final gesture from overlords to the serf population -- a fireworks display on Sydney Harbour to mark the end of the APEC summit will be CLOSED TO THE PUBLIC! Australian justice prevails against racist Howard government and lackey immigration minister, Kevin Andrews. The retrogressive Howard government has been given a clear and firm message from the Australian people via the Legal system. Howard has done more to damage Oz’s good name in the international arena than any Australian Prime Minister in modern history. Howard and his contractive, backward looking, divisive policies have unnecessarily compromised all Australians who travel and serve their nation overseas. An extremely curious article from the Sunday Telegraph regarding an indiscretion of opposition leader Kevin Rudd, Australia’s own sun-bleached dog turd -- I hope the metaphor conveys the correct impression -- appeared today, 4 years AFTER the event! But first consider the appeal value of a weathered dog turd compared with a fresh turd! The fresh turd does have some character -- colour and an unpleasant odour. Fresh dog turds also affect human behaviour, most people go to lengths to avoid contact especially stepping in one. Now consider an exposed, weathered, sun-bleached, dog turd – no character whatsoever, no colour, smell or affective power. You may begin to appreciate the panic Kevin Rudd’s PR consultants and advisers experience when attempting to present a characterless nothing as something! (story and 2 comments and 2 images)

On Friday, the Dow Jone’s clawed its way back from a 200 point deficit to a mere 31 point loss after the Federal Reserve injected $38 billion into the banking system. Twenty-four hours after I reported China’s announcement that China, not the Federal Reserve, controls US interest rates by its decision to purchase, hold, or dump US Treasury bonds, the news of the announcement appeared in sanitized and unthreatening form in a few US news sources.
The Washington Post found an economics professor at the University of Wisconsin to provide reassurances that it was “not really a credible threat” that China would intervene in currency or bond markets in any way that could hurt the dollar’s value or raise US interest rates, because China would hurt its own pocketbook by such actions. BBQ Chicken

I usually pick up a BBQ Chicken at the end of the week, more from a need to avoid cooking than as a treat. I hadn’t seen the shop assistant who served me before, he was very particular about which chicken I selected, he gently prodded a few, very gently turned a few over all the while commenting on moisture content, texture and oven position. Very dedicated I thought as I pointed to a small plump chicken. The attendant smiled approvingly at my selection. As he placed the chicken in a take-away BBQ bag he gave me a knowing wink and said, “good selection, the pretty ones are not for eating." He then ritualistically handed the bag to me with both hands as if making an offering. Very odd behaviour I thought as I headed for the fresh vegetable section to obtain salad ingredients.
