Afghanistan behind the Media Facade
Eric Margolis via reed, Tuesday, May 29 2012, 12:17am
One of my favorite artists was the superb Victorian painter Elizabeth Butler who captured in oil the triumphs and tragedies of the British Empire. Her haunting painting, “The Retreat from Kabul, ” shows the sole survivor of a British army of 16,500, Dr. William Brydon, struggling out of Afghanistan in January, 1842. All the rest were killed by Afghan tribesmen after a futile attempt to garrison Kabul. (story and 2 images)

American War Crimes in Afghanistan Continue Unabated
Sardar Ahmad via gan, Sunday, May 27 2012, 10:28am
When America commits war crimes, they are not really war crimes! The absurd double standard and tissue thin excuses the US presents to a civilized, moral world regarding its CONTINUING war and other crimes against humanity are completely unacceptable. The US can't have it both ways. (story and 1 image)

Welcome to Obama’s Indefinite Military Detention America
snowy, Sunday, May 27 2012, 12:46am
State prosecutors, with the approval of Constitutional LAW professor, cocaine snorting, pot smoking, Barack ‘errand boy’ Obama, recently ‘urged’ a female judge (‘onya girl) to lift her ruling against a provision in the NDAA Act for indefinite military detention, which was passed into law by ‘puff, puff,’ Obama. A most curious ‘urging,’ wouldn’t you think? The provision is unambiguously/CLEARLY unconstitutional, yet Obama’s legal henchmen want the Nazi inspired provision to stay! [But bear in mind, “when the President does it, it’s not (Fascist or) illegal!”] (story and 1 image)

staff report via dasha, Saturday, May 26 2012, 1:46am

US/NATO breeding division, conflict and chaos in Africa
Dan Glazebrook via stele, Friday, May 25 2012, 11:54pm
The scale of the ongoing tragedy visited on Libya by NATO and its allies is becoming horribly clearer with each passing day. Estimates of those killed so far vary, but 50,000 seems like a low estimate; indeed the British Ministry of Defence was boasting that the onslaught had killed 35,000 as early as last May. But this number is constantly growing.

The 'Railroading' of Bradley Manning continues while the people watch American Idol
ronnie, Friday, May 25 2012, 1:51pm
America abandoned justice when it legalised torture; so it comes as no surprise that the railroading of Manning is being conducted in secret. Various bodies have requested more transparency, however, all applicants have been placed on a watch list for possible indefinite detention in the near future -- welcome to America, home of the slave, land of the God knows what? Oz Carbon Tax - no effect whatsoever on Global Emissions or Climate!
rae, Friday, May 25 2012, 1:11pm
It is clear that the banker-corporate designed Carbon Tax that Juliar Gillard dutifully imposed on the people of Australia will have no effect whatsoever on global emissions or climate. But it will provide a huge bounty for banks and government with increased costs across the board for average Aussies.

In what may be his last voluntary public appearance, “gifted hacker,” publisher and founder of the WikiLeaks whistle blowing website, has worn the V for Vendetta mask, which has become the default icon of the ANONYMOUS underground – a rapidly growing army of invisible hackers and specialists that present the only real VIABLE opposition to the criminal ruling elites of today. Chronically Missing the Point
tel, Thursday, May 24 2012, 12:33pm
A story that is carried by all the major 'news' networks captures -- to the exclusion of other major news -- the focus of the public. Society remains locked into the existing structure. The veracity of the 'news' story becomes irrelevant if it remains in the news. It captures, whether the 'alternative' media denounces the story or whether the mainstream promotes it. Both reactions reduce awareness by narrowing attention; credibility becomes irrelevant if all media sources entertain a given story. (story and 1 image)

Dip-stick COWARDLY US Congress now retreats from War with Iran
Kate Gould via george, Wednesday, May 23 2012, 11:21pm
America has finally revealed its true COWARDLY colors when facing an opponent with the capability of delivering a devastating retaliatory response. It's tail between legs, run and hide as fast as you can, US Congress; but Israel knows it MUST attack! Who knows the regional situation better than besieged Israel? America is easily forced into a conflict if Israel attacks -- America has no choice, Obama is as weak as piss and the Israelis know it! (story and 1 image)

Its former CEO and CURRENT chairperson, Eric Schmidt, is also a BILDERBERG attendee; so we know where this company is coming from -- data mining, surveillance and unfair corporate practices with EXTREME bias! The Criminal Banking System that Controls our Politicians
Ann Robertson and Bill Leumer via stele, Monday, May 21 2012, 9:56pm
When homeowners have fallen behind in their mortgage payments, whether because of a job loss or because the interest rates just shot up, the bankers have responded coldly. Led by their economic interests, they set their robo-signers working overtime on foreclosures, forcing millions of people out of their homes. Back during the height of this current economic crisis, when Congress considered passing legislation that would have allowed judges to lower home loans in order to prevent these foreclosures, the banks lobbied furiously and killed the legislation.

NATO Chicago Protests
Captain, Monday, May 21 2012, 12:20pm
It was heartening to see Iraq and Afghan veterans marching in Chicago with throngs of civilian protesters. Veterans made passionate anti-war statements before throwing their war medals at the NATO venue; "I choose life," one veteran exclaimed as he tossed his medals away. Who knows more about the injustices of war than those that fight it and the innocents unjustly affected by it? Obama and the war mongers have no idea of the horrors of war, which why they so easily advocate war instead of Peace. (story and 2 comments and 1 image)
