Peter Costello or a REAL alternative

Australian government since former PM John Howard surrendered the nation to the Corporations is only a meaningless body going through motions and parading as though government actually mattered. The current Murdoch approved Prime Minister, Kevin Rudd, constrained by the Corporations, is too frightened to force them to return a fair percentage of their obscene profits to the nation for essential infrastructure and other essential services. The primary concern of all government should be the general welfare of the nation, not the welfare of Transnationals that take their profits offshore! Rudd’s government is a government of acquiescence and cowardice not distinct in any way from the shameless cowardice displayed by the former PM John Howard – makes you ‘proud’ to be an Aussie, doesn’t it? Consequently most Australians today are aware that Rudd is a dead loss and total letdown – nothing more than a media performer and keeper of the status quo.
It is therefore no surprise that today’s newswire reports that the former treasurer, Peter Costello, is the popular choice to lead the opposition. Costello has always aspired to the top job and may find it difficult to refuse an offer for the leadership now that Rudd is widely perceived to be an easily defeated marshmallow-man. The current opposition leader, Brendan ‘air supremacy’ Nelson, is in no position to put up a fight; an infamous turncoat could never achieve the leadership of the land.
Power brokers are waking to the fact that Rudd could be the most easily removed PM in Australian history. A Christian hypocrite, conservative twerp/dork, parochial philistine and narcissist who poses and prances for the cameras would present no difficulty for any real MAN or WOMAN of good AUSTRALIAN character.
What many commentators find astonishing, however, is the subservience of Rudd’s senior ministers, some of whom appear to have a modicum of character; none have openly challenged Rudd’s method of ‘bells and whistles’ government. These ministers may be jeopardising their futures if they allow themselves to go down with one-term Rudd.
Costello’s record as the most slavish to corporate wishes treasurer we’ve ever known, is far from satisfactory. We all remember his ridiculous analogy of the ‘finely tuned racing car’ economy; to be specific, the rather ill economy we face today! “Who do you trust,” indeed! With that said it is painfully clear that neither party offers a satisfactory solution for Australia’s future – virtually nothing of ‘substance’ separates the two major parties.
Faced with the vice-like grip Transnationals and large Financial interests have on the nation today, a dynamic FRESH leadership is required; one that upholds ALL traditional Oz values – values that evolved not be accident but were shaped by the need to survive in this is unique land!
Never forget that Howard and Costello were happy to jettison the values that characterised Australia and made it distinct from other nations. Furthermore, note Rudd’s reticence when faced with restoring Australian values – how many workers receive wages in the tens of millions, Mr Rudd? What a bloody travesty! Contrast Rudd’s reticence with the speed at which he does America’s bidding, even when it compromises – insulting China -- our nation! Rudd is fully aware that Bush is the most detested and incompetent politician of our time yet he yields to him like a passive homosexual; an attitude shared by Australian foreign minister Stephen ‘kneepads’ Smith?
For those citizens amenable to alarmist propaganda, allow me to sooth your troubled souls. The international economy is about to plunge into the most horrid recession/depression it has ever known. Relative to the turmoil of economic failure and climate change induced famine, ‘sorting’ a few buccaneer Corporations and jailing a few CEOs present as very minor problems indeed; are you listening Mr Allan Moss?
[I would add that in an age of private armies and outsourcing wars/security, it would be more dangerous buying protection than facing the 'music.' The client is always the soft option; security personnel realise it is safer and easier to rob and eliminate the client themselves -- facing angry hordes out for blood is to be avoided whenever possible!]
Options for the future are limited, the road to ruination or the hard, radical road to social survival. However, the entire debate may be academic, as the 'times' beg their own leaders (and the time is not quite right, YET!)

a land of jailed executives’
