It’s Good News Week

Bush has declared that it’s acceptable to illegally bug US citizens for a ‘good cause’; Cheney opposed legislation banning the use of torture by US agencies! Rumsfeld denounces claims that Iraq invasion is related to Oil appropriation; US Congress attacks Bush or rather those responsible for the debacle that is the Bush Presidency. But the news of the week is the residents of Sydney contracting the disease that is John Winston Howard (cowardice).

Never in the Bushranging history of Australia has a city population cringed to the extent that the Oz way of life is compromised. A hot summer Saturday and the beaches were almost deserted. The shopping malls near the coast were also noted for their lack of patronage.

What could possibly have prevented the brave Australian people expressing their cultural prerogatives, bubonic plague, invaders from Mars, Japanese mini-submarines? No, none of the aforementioned I’m sorry to say - it was ‘chicken fever’ and I’m not referring to bird flu. The cowardice of the Prime Minister has been sympathetically transferred to the residents of Sydney.

Welcome to Sydney Australia, Police State! It is the lack of police professionalism that has created an overkill reaction. Prior to an imported Commissioner of Police (Ryan) savvy policing and a rapid deployment strategy maintained an acceptable level of order and safety. Today, the boy/girlscouts masquerading as police haven’t got a clue. Drastic measures that disrupt public freedoms and cultural pursuits have been implemented to compensate for police inadequacies. Anyone wearing blue could then perform police duties – real policing is NOT transferring the behavioural responsibility onto the public, it is as it has always been, surreptitious methodologies of professional policing that are oriented toward prevention while maintaining a low public profile. Blue-clad storm troopers parading deserted streets is an overt advertisement of ineptitude.

Gang warfare plagues most large cities, Sydney is no exception, in fact Sydney has a very colourful history of gang warfare but never before has a population been disrupted to control the problem. In the recent past (sixties) large racially integrated gangs fought over territorial boundaries and honour violations. Today however, largely influenced by a racist Prime Minister, gangs have formed on the basis of racial differences and fight over skin colour and ethnicity.

John Howard has accomplished what Pauline Hanson failed to do and that is resurrect the corpse of ‘white Australia’. Die hard Howard supporters now admit their leader is racist but attempt to exonerate him on the grounds that “everyone is racist”. I would challenge any ideology that ‘normalises’ extremist statements like these; however, the vast majority of commentators have taken the bait and are arguing the issue of racism while draconian totalitarian policing has been introduced as an ‘emergency measure’.

I can’t wait to see what next week brings, the burning of the Reichstag no doubt!

Would it be in vain to remind you that the issue is not skin colour, it is an egalitarian democracy versus a right-wing totalitarian state.

Good night and sweet dreams Australia.

The price of fear is slavery!
