Secret White House letter to G-20
Greg Palast via sal, Friday, Sep 25 2009, 7:33pm
I still get a thrill whenever I get my hands on a confidential memo with "The White House, Washington" appearing on the letterhead. Even when—like the one I'm looking at now—it's about a snoozy topic: This week's G-20 summit. (story and 2 images)

Lies before the inevitable Fall
baz, Wednesday, Sep 16 2009, 6:55am
This week’s events are big enough to warrant a short commentary. From Obama’s rancorous lies and disinformation to the pathetic Australian government’s inept and transparent bullshit regarding appropriating -- on Murdoch’s orders -- the national telecommunications infrastructure. ‘Poor’ Rupert is losing income hand over fist and is attempting to recover by taking control of the nation’s telecommunications infrastructure. He seeks to eliminate or control competition, prevent peer file transfers (movies and music) and introduce fees for accessing his internet ‘news’ services! Of course none of this can succeed without limiting, filtering or outright blocking other viable FREE news sites on the internet but in order to succeed he must control the infrastructure – isn’t that right, Communications Minister Conroy? Kevin Rudd, 'pathologically incapable!'
leafers, Friday, Sep 11 2009, 8:01am
According to former “deputy sheriff” PM, John ‘aluminium tubing’ Howard, the current PM, Kevin ‘hair dryer' Rudd, is “pathologically incapable;” a description that few informed Australians could successfully counter! Indeed, Rudd is the champion, talentless, parochial bureaucrat, a genus known for its inability to think for itself and/or make real leadership decisions. Not Good, America
harley, Saturday, Aug 29 2009, 10:30pm
Commentators constantly bemoan America’s new fascist direction and spend much time and MISPLACED energy writing reams and reams of material against the new AMERICAN FASCISM. This obsessive and linear endeavour has a very dangerous consequence; it has blinded the commentators and the people to the groundswell of discontent rapidly growing in nations that have not been SUBJECTED to the constant mis/disinformation characteristic of the American mass media. Sovereignty or corrupt Puppet government?
Joseph Ellis via finn, Monday, Aug 17 2009, 10:24pm
From the very beginning of our national history, Americans have been arguing about the proper role of government. Put succinctly, the dispute is between those who regard government as "them" and those who see it as "us."
Our two founding documents embody the tension in its classical form. The Declaration of Independence locates sovereignty in the individual citizen, who possesses the rights of "life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness," as Thomas Jefferson so lyrically put it, and the power of government is described as an alien force that must be put on the permanent defensive. The mind-numbed, volition-devoid MASSES
Joel S. Hirschhorn via nano, Monday, Aug 17 2009, 9:46pm
As we approach the eighth anniversary of 9/11 consider this paradox. In the post 9-11 years the scientific evidence for disbelieving the official government story has mounted incredibly. And the number of highly respected and credentialed professionals challenging the official story has similarly expanded. Yet, to the considerable disappointment of the international 9/11 truth movement, the objective fact is that there are no widespread, loud demands for a new government-backed 9/11 investigation. The 9/11 truth movement is the epitome of a marginalized movement, one that never goes away despite not achieving truly meaningful results, which in this case means replacing official lies with official truth. What has gone wrong?
