It takes a major event/crisis to expose the REALITY and TRUE character of a nation and its people. The reality is usually light years from the myth, as America currently exemplifies. Home of the ‘brave’ and land of the ‘free’ couldn’t be further from the truth! (story and 1 comment and 2 images)

text Jon Stewart becomes angry public's avenger Howard Kurtz via reed, Sunday, Mar 15 2009, 9:23pm
WASHINGTON — Jon Stewart has amassed a passionate following as a sharp-edged satirist who punctures the balloons of the powerful with a caustic candor that reporters cannot muster. As public furor over the economic meltdown rises, the Comedy Central star has turned not just his humor but his full-throated outrage against financial journalists who he says aided and abetted the likes of Bear Stearns, AIG and Citigroup, especially those who work for the nation's top business-news channel.

kanganato.jpg image ICC — ‘Western kangaroo court’ Olley Maruma via rialator, Sunday, Mar 15 2009, 8:23pm
In Africa, the International Criminal Court (ICC) at the Hague is considered by many to be a Western kangaroo court set up to hound, jail and silence African and Third world leaders who refuse to submit to the grip of Western hegemony and domination. The court's recent indictment of President Omar al Bashir of Sudan, has only provided more evidence to give credence to this view. (story and 1 image)

PDF Document The Australian ‘Banana’ Tragedy birdie, Saturday, Mar 14 2009, 11:20pm
This story is a tragedy in progress and is possibly only a minor symptom of a broader social malaise!

The Australian public is fully aware that the great Aussie banana, sold by leading supermarkets tastes like something approximating cardboard! Nevertheless, these pigswill, in-season, bananas sell for high prices ranging between $3.58 to $4.98/kilo – Woolworths and Coles supermarket chains seem to have recently aligned their prices -- an ‘odd coincidence;’ don’t you think? Is there a bloody government regulator out there, anywhere? (story and 1 comment and 1 attached file)

text SPP: Updating the Militarization and Annexation of North America Stephen Lendman via reed, Friday, Mar 13 2009, 9:58pm
The title refers to the Security and Prosperity Partnership of North America (SPP), also known as the North American Union - formerly launched at a March 23, 2005 Waco, Texas meeting attended by George Bush, Mexico's President Vincente Fox, and Canadian Prime Minister Paul Martin. It's for a tri-national agreement, below the radar, for greater economic, political, and security integration with secret business and government working groups devising binding policies with no public knowledge or legislative debate.

Bill Gates image Forbes “Richest:” a tragic listing of perverse values budgie, Friday, Mar 13 2009, 8:11pm
Bill Gates, formerly of Microsoft Corp -- you remember, the producer of the world’s most unstable computer operating system -- has re-floated to the position of world’s ‘richest’ person, but I doubt the man is really ‘rich.’ (story and 1 comment and 1 image)

text Revealed: Cheney Assassination Squads Eric Black via rialator, Thursday, Mar 12 2009, 6:55am
At a “Great Conversations” event at the University of Minnesota last night, legendary investigative reporter Seymour Hersh may have made a little more news than he intended by talking about new alleged instances of domestic spying by the CIA, and about an ongoing covert military operation that he called an “executive assassination ring.”

text ‘Arse-about’ Australia: inverted priorities and lost values pidge, Tuesday, Mar 10 2009, 9:47am
After the infamous, criminal, CONSERVATIVE leadership of John Howard (who was thrown out of Parliament on his racist, lying, servile, incompetent arse by the people) Australia’s tolerance for corruption and criminality in government and elite corporate circles, increased, I am very sorry to report! text Taliban Truce and the Coming Storm in South Asia Tom Burghardt via rialator, Sunday, Mar 8 2009, 8:59am
With growing instability and political turmoil inside Afghanistan and Pakistan, due in no small measure to American efforts on both sides of the "Afpak" divide to "stabilize" the region for multinational energy companies, this spring will see the rise of combat operations inside both countries.

humpty.jpg image The Vacillating President: 70K troop surge or defeat in Afghanistan? budgie, Sunday, Mar 8 2009, 1:14am
What’s it gonna be Baa’raack, a 70,000 troop surge in Afghanistan or failure? All we heard from the world’s highest profile house slave (you reprehensible, turncoat, fraud) was the constant refrain ‘we must fight the war in Afghanistan;’ the war is in Afghanistan, the war, ya di yar …; you even had servile Kevin ‘custard-face’ Rudd, the Oz PM, repeating the same refrain. Have a heart, Baa’raack, between you and Murdoch the hapless Oz PM doesn’t know which way to turn -- poor pathetic, Kevin, ‘we’ promise to give clear orders next time! (story and 1 image)

prayingobama.jpg image Social paralysis persists in demoralised USA Robert Scheer via reed, Friday, Mar 6 2009, 11:12pm
This is crazy! Forget the bleating of Rush Limbaugh; the problem is not with the quite reasonable and, if anything, underfunded stimulus package, which in any case will be debated long and hard in Congress. The problem is with what is not being debated: the far more expensive Wall Street bailout that is being pushed through--as in the case of the latest AIG rescue--in secret, hurried deal-making primarily by the unelected secretary of the treasury and the chairman of the Federal Reserve. PDF Document Top U.N. Official Accuses U.S. of Inhuman 'Atrocities' in Iraq, Afghanistan staff report via reed, Friday, Mar 6 2009, 10:12pm
The Iraq holocaust, as history describes it, has been occurring in full view of both the ICC and the UN for years. Now dated official reports from the Lancet and Johns Hopkins conservatively put the figures of murdered at over half a million! Speaking out now (far too late) after major crimes against humanity have been committed in plain view, one can only but ask, 'is late better than never' when time is measured in (over one million INNOCENT) human lives?

The world's legal and humanitarian institutions have FAILED us all. For shame! You have failed not only the people you are committed to protect but your reason for being. Do you NOW feel that it may be appropriate to hold the culpable to account? The entire world is aware of your miserable failures -- do something right, for Christ's sake! Have the 'direct and indirect perpetrators' of these heinous crimes arrested and put on trial! What hope for you and the world if you do not?

text CORRUPTION USA: How Wall Street Paid For Its Own Funeral Marina Litvinsky via talya, Thursday, Mar 5 2009, 10:38am
WASHINGTON, Mar 4 (IPS) - A new report says that Wall Street has only itself to blame for the misguided deregulation that led to the current deepening financial crisis. 'onya Oz image It’s no longer about profit: Oz shows the way! barra, Thursday, Mar 5 2009, 9:38am
It seems that traditional Oz values, egalitarianism, mutual support, mateship and national identity are not dead after all; notwithstanding that former PM and war criminal, John ‘rodent’ Howard, did everything in his power to eradicate traditional Oz values and replace them with second-rate (now failed) American values of callous exploitation, dog eat dog competitiveness, and citizen/user pays for everything – including the ineptitudes of corporate executives, bankers and Wall St. elites! text The FARCE that is the International Criminal Court (ICC) Kingfisher, Thursday, Mar 5 2009, 12:40am
China has questioned the “legitimacy” of the ICC immediately after it issued a warrant for the arrest of the President of Sudan, Omar Hassan al-Bashir, for alleged war crimes and crimes against humanity. The ‘legitimacy’ of the court is in question due to its flagrant PARTIALITY -- we haven’t heard a peep from the ICC regarding warrants and charges against American or Israeli war criminals to date! And that is not for lack of EVIDENCE, which is freely available in the PUBLIC DOMAIN, notwithstanding the compromising public admissions (relating to torture) made on national television by former VP, Dick Cheney! Is it possible that ICC (and UN) investigators are so blind or incompetent? Highly unlikely! OR IS THE COURT A BRAZENLY BIASED INSTITUTION OF POLITICAL CONVENIENCE AND THEREFORE LEGALLY ILLEGITIMATE in every sense of the word?

text We won’t pay for your crisis! Eric Walberg via fleet, Wednesday, Mar 4 2009, 7:05am
Sarkozy’s ‘incoherence’ is a sign of the euro-impasse.

Riots swept across Eastern Europe this winter. In Latvia 100 were arrested when they attacked the Finance Ministry with cobblestones from the quaintly restored tourist area protesting unemployment, budget and wage cuts. In Lithuania, riot police fired rubber-bullets and tear gas on a trade union march. A demonstration in the Bulgarian capital turned violent leading to the arrest of 150 protesters. These three states are all members of the Exchange Rate Mechanism (ERM2), the euro’s pre-detention cell. They must join.

Schoolboy Minister, Stephen Conroy image Clean feed filtered out Mitchell Bingemann via liberty, Tuesday, Mar 3 2009, 7:33am
Mandatory information censorship is a suicide pill for any Oz government but none swallowed it more effectively than Rudd's Murdoch controlled Lay-bore government of bereft incompetents. And Stephen Conroy takes 'star' billing as incompetent #1. Peter 'backflip' Garrett whose anti-uranium stance had all the integrity of a chameleon in a paint shop, is ecstatic that Conroy has taken the albatross from around his neck. (story and 2 images)
